Your missing a few things here.

Your saying "You just bought a brand new car, but you should by a plastic cover to protect your windshield". My kid has had lots of smart phones and none of them have had broken screens like the iPhone has. Come to think of it, I've never seen ANYONE with a broken screen unless it was an iPhone.

I shouldn't have to buy a special $100 case to protect my electronics.

And I have bought them - A few otterbox covers, a few others. Looks great, doesn't fucking work.

I haven't browsed GFY in 6 months and you guys are still arguing about how much Apple sucks and fucking typos?

Too funny.

Damian - nobody cares.
Rochard - your kid is clumsy, stop giving her glass things.

MrMaxwell 04-09-2013 12:45 PM

You can't blame apple because your kid is over there breaking the screens

Actually though, motherfuck apple in the dick, those cocksuckers

I agree. Apple is fucking bullshit.

I've had four versions of the iPhone and two of the iPad and never even scratched the screens, maybe you should tell your kid not to throw it around that much ;)

Now that I said that do you want to bet that they both shatter within 24 hours!!

MrBottomTooth 04-09-2013 01:35 PM

I managed to break my samsung s3 screen too with a very mild fall off a desk to the floor, so it's not just an apple thing.

Just replaced the screen and got an otterbox so hopefully it holds up now.

I was used to my motorola atrix, it seemed like it was indestructible. Although it weighed twice as much too. This s3 just feels so cheap and flimsy.

It wasn't the fact that my kid cracked the iPhone screen yet again, it was iTunes telling me it had to re-install yet again. Turns out the problem wasn't even with iTunes.

My wife and I both have Droids. This will be our last iPhone. I'm done with cracked screens.

xenigo 04-09-2013 01:49 PM

If your kid wasn't dropping the phone, the display would not break.

The solution is simple: Don't drop your phone.

And don't buy devices made out of glass for your kids.

This is not an Apple problem. It's a kid problem.

Make your kid responsible for repair of their iphones and I bet they suddenly stop cracking. :)

Personally I love my iPhone. I purchased a "Speck" case for it and so far have not cracked my phone yet after 2 drops to concrete.

My last phone, an iphone 4, managed about 4 drops before the back finally cracked. It still works despite having a big hole in the back.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Chevy and On-Star Apps can do once I receive my new car, and will be buying some iphone controlled home lighting gadgets soon too (you control the brightness and color of your home lighting, wirelessly).

iPhones rock.

crockett 04-09-2013 02:22 PM

I made the mistake of buying an iMac a few years ago and of course it broke to the point of uselessness about 6 months out of warranty. Well of course I could pay the little snobs at the Apple store $500+ for a new power board or what ever the fuck it is and who knows if that's even what's wrong..

For $500 I can build a PC that has better specs than the fucking iMac..

For phones I use this cheap piece of shit Nokia that cost me $9.99 (literally) It has no bling, no bells or whistles, but it's lasted 2 years and the battery typically lasts me a week at a time.

I need to buy a smart phone in the near future and I'm dreading the hell out of doing so. I've looked at both iPhones & Samsungs and they both look like they would break very easily.

Apple buy isnot a smart buy, fact.

bl4h 04-09-2013 02:27 PM

You people are missing the point.

I've never met anyone who has broken an Android screen. Half of my kid's friends have iPhones, and at any given chance there is a 50/50 chance their screen is cracked. Yet the other half of my kid's phones who don't have iPhones never have cracked screens - ever.

Then you have this: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-...een-poll-says/

so the conclusion of your survey is that kids with iphones are spoiled brats without respect for things

my sister broke two screens. but I have to back up apple a little bit. if you drop something even once you should expect it to break. i mean you can see and feel that its an electronic device, and think to yourself " i better not drop this, because it will break! "

theres a lot of things to hate apple over but for real? throwing your phone on the ground and it cracking is weird?

A girlfriend of mine showed me her broken Samsung note today. All of these smart devices can be broken by dropping them. Get a good case.

The iphone and the iOS smokes Droid imo and syncs beautifully with all of my devices which is something the the others have not get gotten down.

Apple rocks.

Yea, no, not so much. I've spent nearly $500 on multiple "otterbox" cases and similar. No workie - iPhone still broke. It's comical because she never broke the screen on any other phone.

Ummm. I drop mine about six times per day. Speck case is the only way to go.

I think you should get her a Zack Morris model so she can learn how to have nice things.

Herb Kornfield 04-10-2013 06:42 AM

I have had iPhones for years. Never broke a screen and mine is on job sites, in my car bouncing around in a console at times as well sitting in my office most of the day ... not a single scratch on it .. why? ... Otterbox the day I bought it.

I have the larger otterbox that covers 100% of the phone. Why? ... its a $500 device, also my personal and business phone.

I bet if the kid had the industrial strength otterbox, the screen would not be cracked.

Also ... with my teenaged step daughters. When they broke their screens from dropping them, and tossing them about ... they got a flip phone replacement until they had to save up their spending money, holiday cash from family and bought replacements. Funny, they have not broke a phone since.

alex.missyouth 04-10-2013 06:57 AM

When I was a kid we had four TV channels - NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS.... And had to walk to school!

In the snow!

Uphill!

Backwards, blindfolded and they kept changing the school venue regularly. They did that to me too.

You uhh... Do realize it's not iTunes that does the charging but your computer itself... Right? Please tell me you know this... :Oh crap

Get a new charger, yours is probably broken, or uhh... Get a new computer because the USB port isn't working right?

I use the driod 4.... has a physical keyboard... the only issue is now I never get off work due to the constant flow text and emails

Choopa Phil 04-10-2013 08:51 AM

Tempted to record myself dropping my iphone 100 times without it breaking. The only way ur breaking the glass is with a direct impact to the screen. Face the screen towards ur thigh when its in your pocket and dont play with it over jagged rocks and it will never break.
