CCBill and MasterCard

I just called CCBill to find out how many MasterCard transactions took place for my sales within the last year. They said this was impossible to determine.

I then asked if they knew what percentage of CCBill sales overall, were MasterCard. Again, they said they had no system in place to make that determination.

It seems unreasonable to believe they cannot answer this question.

Semi-related, there is a chain of dollar stores in my area called Dollar Tree. The company that owns Dollar Tree also owns a chain of stores called Deals. Until very recently, neither of these chain stores accepted MasterCard. Within the last few months, most of their stores have changed policy, and now they DO accept MasterCard.

I only mention this because for YEARS this major business chain of retail products decided MasterCard was not worth accepting. This was not a niche online enterprise - it was (and is) a very big company that sells to the general public, and FOR YEARS they decided accepting MasterCard was NOT a priority for them.

Just something to think about...

Answer:
Chargeback/Refund/Void report. Just run it then break it down by card type and it will give you 'all sales'.

All cash sales in a dollar store doesn't surprise me. Nor will I be surprised if they were to find that Dollar Tree turns out to be a huge money laundering operation.

They were never "cash-only" - they accepted VISA CARD all along.

It was MASTERCARD that they did not accept... for years.

Only recently have they opted-in for MC.

Also, unless my memory is incorrect, most processors, including CCBill, used to allow you to set up a free account, which included MC acceptance, but you had to pay $750 as an initial application fee, ONLY if you wanted to add VISA.

Most webmasters agreed, at the time, that 90+% of sales were via VISA (and not MC), so VISA got their money.

I just want to know what the breakdown is per credit card, overall, as of today.

Worked like a charm - thanks RyuLion!

I ran the report for the last year, and approximately 25% of all of my CCBill sales were via MC.

Looks like keeping MasterCard in the loop is worth it afterall.

That answers that!

You are comparing a retail store that as you said. Is a dollar store. They most likely avoided mastercard because most people pay in cash and they want as little CC transactions as possible for tax purposes. There are many businesses especially restaurants that are now only excepting cash, and there is no shortage of people. When you are an online business, you dont have the opportunity to take cash. Especially if you need to charge a monthly fee for something. So its really like comparing apples and oranges.

Sam's Club doesn't take Visa. Neither does Costco. Why? Because they have special deals with Discover and American Express, respectively.

Why am I bringing this up? Because it bares as much resemblance as the Dollar Tree story…

Good point.

Anyway, the purpose of my inquiry was to determine what percentage of my CCBill sales are MC, and as I now know it's in the area of 25%, I will pay the $500 fee, as it would be crazy not to.

I did the same...worked as described.
To my amazement... slightly over 35% of my sales since Jan 2006, were via MC.

WRONG, must depend on your area. I remember years of cash only....
