Walts never claim to have done anything ordinary. They all seem to have single handedly liberated Kosovo or something similar.

I considered enrolling in the Canadian military when i was in high school senior year. A recruitment officer came to my school, a couple people signed up. He told me I wasn't in shape, this was in the gym where he had a booth set up to talk to us. So I challenged him to sprints. He accepted, thinking he'd blow me away. I played a LOT of basketball though, it was bad. I destroyed him, not even close. Then I asked what he benched, he said 220. I was doing over 300 at the time. So I asked him how a panzie like him got in, he said in a cocky asshole way my body fat index was too high. So in front of everyone I said fuck you panzie, and if you challenge that fight me right here or walk away a coward. He left and ended his recruitment. Even my gym teacher was proud of me that day. Never thought about joining the military again. I was in shape but still heavy in high school, played basketball and was in the weight room every day. Not fat like I am now though.

After I got my degree I applied to the RCMP, and they had a physical test course. To get in you had to do it in a certain time, and then a higher standard for when you graduated if you got accepted. They bragged about how hard it was at the graduate level, first attempt I passed at above the graduate level, the only guy doing the test that day who did. I asked about my BMI, they said they didn't care, pass the test was all that mattered, they liked that I was bigger, more weight to throw around. They weren't hiring any white males at that time though, so i didn't get in. Got a letter from them 2 years later asking me to re-apply as I was the type of candidate they were looking for then and were finally hiring, but I had moved on. I suppose the RCMP is a branch of the Canadian military though.....

I have beaten the crap out of several people in the Canadian military who were mouthing off in my college days though, not that that says much.....and did scare some Yankees in the American army out of a bar in Canada once but they weren't marines, they sure could run when I called them on their claims of beating me up. You'd think 3 on 1 they'd have at least tried........

the marines I've known weren't pansies though, the ones I know I actually respect. You can tell just by the way a guy carries himself if he's a man or not.

Pigshit.

So I started to question him further he didn't seem to understand the difference between a PI Marine and a Hollywood Marine....

Am I right to be suspicious here? I mean, every Marine knows their MOS (0352, 8513) and every Marine knows the difference between PI and Hollywood, right?

What other questions can I ask him about the Marines that would verify my guess?

Depends on when he was in the service. In the Navy (so I assume about the same time as the Marines) theyd did not start using MOS heavily until the 80's. I got out in 1982, I had heard some stuff about MOS and they started throwing around numbers but I never really knew what my MOS was. I was an Ocean Systems Technician and that is what I knew.

So, if he is saying he is recently a Marine but does not know shit about MOS then he is probably bullshit. If he was a Marine back in the 70's then he might not know shit aabout what an MOS is.

just my :2 cents:

I didn't know they only started the MOS in the early 1980s. I went in during 1986, and everything was all MOS.

In this case the guy is telling us he served three tours, two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

Pigshit...the MOS Code certainly has been used at least since the 2nd World War and probably longer. You did not know your MOS because of one of two reasons...which are: either you did not serve or you were about the stupidest person to have ever served.

Ignore this as I see you were in the Navy.

A United States military occupation code, or a Military Occupational Specialty code (MOS code), is a nine character code used in the United States Army and United States Marines to identify a specific job. In the U.S. Air Force, a system of Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC) is used. In the United States Navy, a system of naval ratings and designators is used along with Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) system.

trevesty 03-24-2013 09:19 PM

He's probably bullshitting.

There's a local bar fly douche around here who goes around saying he was a Ranger and has killed tons of people, yadda yadda yadda. As in, he'll say this stuff unwarranted in front of a crowd.

Long story short, he about got his head taken off my one of my closest friends who had recently just gotten back from the shit and is most definitely a Ranger. Came back state side, buried one of his brothers, came home. I talked my buddy down, then he made a phone call about this guy... (the idiot dropped his dog tags).

Turns out, he got separated during Red Phase in Basic(Usually means within the first 3 weeks) for mental issues.

Another friend of mine from HS is a Captain for a Ranger Battalion and shared a website to report these people(ICQ me if you want it) and they'll be thoroughly investigated, then outted in local media(well, if the media plays it). He said it's becoming a huge issue with guys who either got separated or just want some tail at the bar... and the Pentagon isn't happy about it.

BradBreakfast 03-24-2013 10:19 PM

Anybody who can't spit out their MOS without hesitation has never been a Marine, let alone at the tip of the spear.

Are you a member of the Westboro church?

davecummings 03-25-2013 09:35 AM

The Westboro Church, and their hate-filled "we're glad your son/husband/etc died in combat" type signs at military funerals is a major reason why the nationwide Patriot Guard Riders was formed by volunteer veterans and others --- my above posting includes a link to comments about the Patriot Guard, and westboro (lack of capital letter for this so-called church is VERY intentional). Interestingly, no westboro demonstators have shown up lately at funerals for Navy Seals or Army Rangers that we Patriot Guard folks have participated in around San Diego. If any had been there, we'd have sprung into action, in a non-forceful law-abiding way and shielded the families and others from their crap.

It's been my experience (25 years of active duty, and now many years as a retired military guy) that both active duty and retired Seals and Rangers generally blend in, especially at bars, and NEVER reveal their specific present or past military status to others.

davecummings 03-25-2013 09:55 AM

Oops, I just recalled that a westboro person was at a funeral we participated in for a cop who had recently returned safely from serving in Afghanistan but who died while assisting a motorist on a freeway. Some of our Patriot Guard folks spotted the demonstrator before the funeral service began, peacefully confronted her, and she left without incident. The hearse arrived minutes later, along with our accompanying escort of Patriot Guard members riding their motorcycles in a "Missing Man" formation.

HEY, say what you will about the military, they've been defending your right to spew nonsense freely and publicly for over 200 years, so knock yourself out. But leave the trekkies out of it.

I know a couple of ex seals, and interestingly I found out about it from others first that they were seals. I ended up asking them about, and they spoke about a few things they did that was unclassified, but they didn't brag or say there were in fact seals before I asked, and both spoke in a private situation about it at their homes, not in public.

I've never met a marine who considered the Marine Corps "past". You can meet a 68-year-old guy at a bar, and he'll still correct you if you ask, "Were you a marine?" Get ready for him to say, "No. I AM a marine."

It's just not part of the culture to think of being a marine as something you can stop being, and I completely understand why it would bug somebody to meet an impostor. Anybody in the marine corps has worked way too hard to let somebody else get away with that. It's also kind of a violation of the other guy's integrity, if he is a marine, to claim that he's something he's not -- which would bug a serious marine even more.

I'm crushed by your response to my post.
YOU have officially pissed in my breakfast cereal of choice.

As an aside, I'm sorry, but I must dissuade you from gifting me with your attentions because I don't fuck people who wet the bed. While I do realize that you're likely to be feminine enough for me to enjoy, I must not violate my own code of conduct, which violating you clearly would do.
