Wasn't aware of stuff like, paying $200 stage fee per shift, or $25 to dance one song and $60 for a half hour in a private room. Some strippers also have to pay DJs and other overhead costs like rent. I figured they make the money in selling booze.

I Don't go there very often, but Yes sad but true.

And the later they get in, the higher the price. That's why you can see some 'That-Club's-Superstar' get in at 11:00 PM, go into VIP and get out at 3:00 am, no stage time, just paid VIP room lap dances... That's why you'll see more of the Newbies (New strippers) in the afternoon, because the Club fee is way lower...

They pay fees to RENT the equipment so they are an independent contractor. Problem is, when you are an independent contractor you set all of your our rules. The clubs are getting in trouble since they are making rules for them to follow, thus making them employees.....

DJ'ing at the rippers was a tough gig, the girls were tough on him, they'd make last minute song changes, request stupid marylin manson all the time and he would get in shit for playing it, and i am pretty sure he was paid minimum wage, he also had to collect all the stage fees from the girls before they would go on, and of course they never had the money at the start of their shift, and if they didn't pay, it was on him to make it up. Pretty sure he deserved a tip or two.

I saw this show on either HBO or Showtime a while back where a film crew spent 6 months in a strip club filming the girl's lives. There was one girl in this club that made bank, a few that did well and a lot that didn't make nearly as much. The one that made the big money did use people, but she hustled. She was out giving private dances between every one of her stage dances and she kept a mailing list of people and would email them telling them each week when she was working. She led some of the guys on and made them think they were dating her, but she also worked her ass off while the other girls did next to nothing and always complained about how she made so much more than them.

It seems like you don't even have to be the hottest girl to make more money. It can help, but if you have a great personality, have fun and connect with the guys you will make more than some smoking hot chick who just dances around looks like she would rather be anywhere but there.

When I think about it, it's a good idea. Soo many strippers (and just people in general) will take advantage of anything, the fees force them to hustle or get out of the biz. Probably the only way to get man of them to work. Without it, they'd do 1/2 as much for the same money and the club gets fucked cause people leave.

I can assure you the only places who charge a stage fee are the high end clubs. The Majority of women make most of their money doing lap dances and bringing clients into the high priced "VIP" rooms.

I know a few strippers and they net the most of their money from regulars who specifically come to see them.

exploitive? they're independent contractors, little business people. it's no different than a cam site - the cam site owner and strip club owner provide the platform, and most importantly the customers - in return the dancers and cam girls pay a share/fee to the cam site and stripclub owner.

that's how taxi drivers work too - taxi driver pays the taxi company to drive one of the company's licensed cabs. taxi driver keeps his profits, hard working driver makes good money, the lazy one may not make a dime.

Back in the mid 80's used to go to the clubs. Girls could make $500-1000 a night. But would waste money on dumb things like $750 sunglasses rather than fixing their cars. One couldn't come up with apartment deposit so she had to spend almost all she made for a room at the next door motel.
Crazy part is most I knew made great dance money and turned a few tricks and still living in total poverty.
Went over to one stripper's house. Her and her husband were going to have a roast duck and a very expensive french wine. When I got there, they were in the front yard screaming at the repo man. However, about five years ago a friend of mine got a great promotion and was moving away for his job so we took him out to celebrate. We end up at a strip club. The first girl that came out on the main stage was smoking hot. She had an amazing body and gorgeous face. She was okay. She said hi to everyone and shook her ass and spun around the pole and made some good tips. The next girl up was actually hotter than the first, but she just stood around like she was half asleep, shook her ass a few times and then just walked around collecting her dollar bills. Because they can , its pretty new. I worked in strip clubs in the 80 and early 90's in NY. Girls didn't tip out or pay anyone the club paid for the employees. The first club I worked at paid the girls $15 an hr for their times on the stage and they got their tips. That was before lap dances.

The Majority of women make most of their money doing lap dances and bringing clients into the high priced "VIP" rooms. The last hour is all the drunks trying to take the girls home and the worst hour to be there she says lol. They have a tipout which pays the DJ and bouncers I think. It goes by how many girls are working. I know if they are late they pay a fee to the house. If they leave early and if they miss their call to dance and a few other ones I think. But would waste money on dumb things like $750 sunglasses rather than fixing their cars. One couldn't come up with apartment deposit so she had to spend almost all she made for a room at the next door motel. Crazy part is most I knew made great dance money and turned a few tricks and still living in total poverty. Went over to one stripper's house. Her and her husband were going to have a roast duck and a very expensive french wine. When I got there, they were in the front yard screaming at the repo man. Seems they owed $300 on one of their classic Suburbans. $300??? Hell she was fucking this one old man once a week for $1000. 2 did do well, only because they ended up managing or owning strip bars.
