Nice! Love Depeche Mode's music. I saw them at the Montreal Forum a long time ago and they were much better than I expected (and I was already expecting alot). Had no idea they had more music on the way. Thanks for sharing!

You didn't fall in love with Aly?

His brother was cute as well.

No, I didn't but I didn't mean it in a bad way. I'm glad when people have a thing for people that aren't the normal ones that everybody is 'suppose' to like.

I can not get tickets to see them. I try every time I see them come to a town I am in and they always sell out right away.

They are doing a gig in Santa Barbara soon with Johnny Marr. I so wish I could be at that.

Summers and Marr worked together with Tennant from Pet Shop Boys for the Electronic project which gave us this song. I fully admit to loving it.

I've heard mixed reviews of Marr's latest album but I haven't listened to it fully.

And they lost to Trent Reznor ...our generation is taking its place :)

NoOrdinary 03-20-2013 04:37 PM

Violator is to me the culmination of their career and one of my favorites albums ever, even though you can find some good tracks on Exciter, a pretty good record (thanks to the producer Mark Bell, I guess).

I fully admit to being sad and having put together a Spotify playlist recently:

Covering 33 years of Depeche Mode - 33 different Depeche Mode songs covered by 33 different artists. There's Johnny Cash, The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins and a lot more on there.

I'm pretty sure memories is mostly what music is about one way or another.

Tasty1 03-21-2013 02:48 PM

I only remember Depeche Mode cause 1 friend of mine liked it and played it all day.
And he was always very depressing. So i guess most fans killed themselves.

Hey, at least Trent still pays homage to his precursors. Here's Trent, Jeordie White and Peter Murphy doing a cover of The Normal's Warm Leatherette. Man that takes me back.

The song 'Heaven' is more like what Dave Gahan is doing in solo :

Oh, I wasn't saying anything negative about Trent. He is a DM fan too, anyway ;)

I like his cover of Gary Numan's Metal too.

I felt it was perfectly done.

I saw DM once, at some amphitheater outside of Sacramento (name escapes me, at the moment). They had one of the best visual stage shows I've ever seen.

I'd love to see them, again.

This weekend, he performed with half of Blur at a charity gig. Since they used to have a media created rivalry, that was fun to see.

The song 'Heaven' is more like what Dave Gahan is doing in solo :

It really won me over the second listen through. To me, it is an album that those that are more into the Just Can't Say Enough era or who only really dig the singles aren't going to like that much. However, those that like Songs of Faith and Devotion era are going to really come to love.

I like Heaven a lot but it is pretty much the most mainstreamy track on the album. 'Slow' keeps getting played for me, I like the mix of the synths at blues guitar.
