Very close, but still different. Say knowing Ukrainian helps me learn Polish easy.

Why is this special? I have a friend who speaks 7 languages fluently, I have other friends who speak 3 and others 2. More and more people are multi lingual these days, I myself speak a little Spanish and will be learning until I am fluent, after that I plan on learning French (or Italian) because a friend who speaks French Spanish Italian and English told me that when you speak 2 of the 4, the other 2 are super easy to pick up.

I'm Scottish, only lived in Canada for 2.5 years. I was taught Spanish in school for 6 years, we also had the option to learn French or German as well but I picked sports and woodshop class over more languages. In hindsight, I wish I picked French because I suck ass at building/making anything at all lol. I'm going to get fully fluent in Spanish in the next 12-18 months then I will tackle French I think, it's not commonly used in the part of Canada I live but anything you buy comes with both English and French on it so it won't hurt and I think it'll be easy to learn given I'm surrounded by it in every day life right now.

It's useful for us to learn Spanish because of our high level of southern invaders living here.

Kind of like it's useful for eastern Canadians to speak French, and western Canadians to speak Hindi.
