i flew with just hand luggage to Barcelona and back last weekend and took everything i needed - including small scissors. no one gave a rats ass.

They are only 30 minutes apart and usually you will get thru check-in and security much faster too. Less aggro, less airfare cost. Take the tri-rail up there if you don't want to drive it. http://www.tri-rail.com/
