Thats because I live in real life so when i go buy milk they dont laugh at me for trying to buy bitcoins. I am sorry you are some kooky dude who thinks that bitcoins are the next best thing, but you are only the 100th person to come here and say this over the past 3-4 years or whenever bitcoins started to say the same thing, but nothing has changed.

Can you be honost now, and tell us how much money you invested into bitcoins that you created a thread and had to wait 2 pages for someone to agree with you and when it happened you said 'Finally!'

Let us the true story behind this thread.

If you go back long enough I was probably one of the first people to talk about bitcoin on here years back. Now look some of the biggest websites in the world are accepting bitcion.. casino's are accepting bitcoin.. even webcam models. lol. Yes there are even debit cards where you can buy your milk with bitcoin.

I'm not trying to be rich, I stated before I only have 10 or so bitcoins. I like the idea. :)

I dont think bitcoins are gonna go away. But I do see them being used as a payment option for pirates and I have seen them being mentioned more and more on file locker forums and other pirate sites, so I think once that happens it will cause yet more headaches for copyright holders. I did use to mine them when they first appeared but havent done so in over a year now.

LOL. Your passion for it seems that you would own a ton. Aside from my smart ass remarks. My personal opinion is they might stick around as what they are now, but they arent real currency and I would not invest in to them. What are the 'biggest websites in the world' that accept them? Can you give me some examples..

wordpress.com

and just yesterday reddit.com

I think wikipedia will be next.

If you would have invested 5k into bitcoins in 2010 you would have about 2 million dollars today. I didn't invest. :(

I dont know who does what. Bitcoin has a market cap of about 300 million dollars.. 2 weeks ago it was 250 million.

Buy Pizza with Bitcoins lol

The Pizza for Coins service has been set up by two programmers as a way to boost use of the digital cash.

The service acts as a middleman and converts bitcoins into US dollars that are used to pay for food. It charges a small fee to do the currency exchange.

Each bitcoin will be worth thousands, like gold.

Klen 02-17-2013 05:32 AM

Large sites accepting it means nothing, since e-gold used to be very popular among sites too and we seen how that ended.

Egold had a central location to shut down. Bitcoin is owned by noone and has no central location

bitcoinvod.com
bitcoinvideos.com

You wouldn't be able to sell 2m worth of bitcoins. In any instance where there is demand, there is perceived value and a market will be made.

Bitcoins have recovered a bit from there 2011 implosion but they still are not backed, they still have no "faith and force", they are actively referred to as an agent for allowing nefarious transactions and thus "on the radar" of the security folks in a bad way.

Bitcoins are a hobby where 99% of the owners have no idea what they are holding. The "capitalization" you refer to is significantly less than, oh, say, Solyndra. Demand by those who have a little knowledge can sustain a price in an atmosphere of illiquidity, but a currency must have a sustaining value to survive.

Bitcoins have been valuable as a demo concept, so perhaps their legacy will have some value.

Not in 2010 but a little while back I opened an account to invest 5k, they wanted me to jump through hoops to prove identity so I didn't bother.

A technical glitch in the core Bitcoin software forced developers to call for a temporary halt to Bitcoin transactions, sparking a sharp sell-off. The currency's value briefly fell 23 percent to $37 before regaining much of its value later in the evening.

You can see the panic set in, Bitcoin did recover its value (this time).
