I'm so insanely jealous of your guitars. Wow.

What did you pick out that sounds good?

How the fuck can you tell what sounds good from an ebay photo? I can't figure out if you're trolling here or just stupid.

Anyway, they all suck except maybe for the acoustic Gibson.

Here is my latest acquisition a couple of months ago, a PRS McCarty with AAA top:

Despite being a classic model, it sounds awesome for rock/metal through my new amp:

Let's go back to the original post..
I haven't played one, but I sure like the design. I can only believe Jackson didn't drop the ball on how it sounds and plays.

So the answer to your how the fuck question is...you can't. But i do have enough of years of owning more guitars than I can remember. I know what the different p'up setups sound like. I know what my amps sound like. I know I prefer rosewood to maple fretboards. I also know how to set up a solid body guitar precisely to my tastes. I could probably make a 2x4 with lamp cords playable. I wouldn't want to be seen with one though. I agree 100% that buying an acoustic guitar based on design would be a mistake.

Anyhow...truce. I have no beef with other musicians. You have good solid collection and I respect that.

edit:..I had a D-28 years ago and I took it to Europe with me. The airlines wouldn't let me take it in the cabin to store up front so I ended up buying a ticket for it and it sat next to me all the way.

I play fender strat electric w/ marshall amp, seagull and takamine acoustic electrics... (the seagull is amazing).

if money were not a factor, i would kill to own one of these babies by Paul Languedoc, but $10K for a guitar seems a bit excessive :(

I like hollow body guitars. I have a 1955 National and it sounds great at low volume. Some of the worst feedback I've ever gotten on stage was with that guitar when I was playing jazz.

Don't any of you guys record your music?

Minte 02-23-2013 08:59 AM

Back ordered :(

I got a call from the Jackson dealer yesterday. I told them to send me the gray one they had in stock and the girl says ok, great. Then about 30 minutes later she calls me back and says..I'm sorry it was sold yesterday and hadn't been removed from their inventory yet. I'm off to the local guitar center to check out some PRS offerings.

I tried 4 diiferent PRS guitars and didn't love any of them. However, I did bring home a new one from the Schecter custom shop.

Next time I go to get a guitar I am going to forget it and get a new camera for my home!

I hate when they put the mint green pick guard on these days to mimic age. I'm not saying that is mint green but that's what the custom shop uses to make it seem aged

The store selling it is credible. I believe it is the real item.

I am going to give them a call tomorrow and find out how much.

Not that I would consider spending 7 figures on a guitar. But if I was going to, this would be the one.

If I could get that guitar for my Lamborghini.. I would do it in a flash.
I think I would have to throw in my house to make that deal happen.

I read that his 1968 strat sold for $2m.

A couple of Claptons guitars sold for close to $1m.

Damn, i had no clue. I would've guessed a few 100k.

Had good news today. There is a satin black Jackson Rhoads Roswell available again at the store in New York. They had a fellow in Australia that had put money down on it, but then bailed on the deal. Jackson custom shop is 2 years out so I ordered it just now and it will be here overnight. :)

I have an appointment with a luthier a few tuesdays from now to scallop my jeff beck strat, my eric johnson strat, and my first strat I ever owned; this japanese model with a floyd rose and a humbucker. I'm going to replace the pups and change the pickguard too, to white instead of black on candy apple red. I had that guitar since 1990. It's been sold twice and somehow I got it back each time.

How many frets are you having done? The JEM has the top 5 and it works really well.

On a sidebar... Eric Johnson is playing tomorrow night in Madison, and I have tickets!
