Yes I have, all four. I would highly recommend you go to an oral surgeon versus a dentist. The experience is night and day.

I never grew wisdom teeth but I did have the rear molar extracted because of TMJ. It didnt really hurt at all, but it was weird hearing my jawbone cracking when the oral surgeon was pulling it out with these big pliers. About a week later, a bone fragment poked thru my gum and then that had to be extracted as well.

Just tell them you are afraid of dentist... they numbed me up really good, gave me xanax before the appointment and sent me home with some percocet.

I've heard soooo many horror stories of getting wisdom teeth pulled, but I had to get 2 out a few years ago and I never had any pain at all and didn't even have to take any meds, maybe I just got lucky.

Depends on how good your dentist is, and whether they can just pull them or have to cut them.

I was recommended a good dentist when I got mine taken out (I had all 4 pulled during the same appointment) and was back to normal and eating solid food the very next day. However, I have heard of people having two taken out and having such a bad experience they never go back for the other two (which is why I opted to do all four at once).

Just in case you experience pain they'll probably give you a prescription for Codeine - I would suggest getting that filled ASAP rather than taking a wait and see approach, just in case.

You'll walk out thinking: "Hey, that wasn't so bad after all!"

Then a little later the local anesthetic wears off, at the same time you swell up and the pain games begin. Everything tastes of blood and you curl up whimpering like a little puppy for 2 days.

Well, that was my experience anyway. Have luck!

yeah i would recommend the same here..

I had all 4 taken out and it was about as painless exp almost completely, I was awake for the whole thing even.. I felt a dull pain after a bit, but the t3's they gave me were more than enough to get me through it for a couple days.

Mine weren't impacted though so I've heard that helps the process.

I think you have to go to an oral surgeon; dentists don't remove wisdom teeth because they can't put you under. Mine are fucking impacted. I should probably get them taken out, but I'll probably just wait until my back molars start to disintegrate from the pressure. I'm not looking forward to it. Just make sure you go to someone who'll give you painkillers.

Incorrect. My sister had the dentist she goes pull her's one by one at 4 different appointments. I know he is not a surgeon.

Well, my experience wasn't quite like that. I went there, had a cup of pills and a shot. Woke up and was carried to the car, drove home, and slept more a less three days. I was up long enough to take a piss, drink some 7-up, eat some soup, and take some pills. After 3 days of that, I was up and around for the most part. Although I did another few days of minimal food and drink.

I can't say I enjoyed having to dig food stuff out of the holes with my tongue for a month or so. But I would prefer that and the blood over the the pain. I think no matter how you do it, there is going to be some discomfort involved.

Good luck.

I got knocked out for it, 2 were impacted, 9 years later I can still feel the scars from the impacted ones with my tongue. I would say definitely go to an oral surgeon.

I had all 4 taken out. 2 pulled and 2 cut out from my jaw as they were so impacted. The pain BEFORE pulling them was WAAAAY worse than the pain after. The pain after only lasts a few days and it's more of an uncomfortable feeling vs. pain.

Do what you have to do to get them out if they're going to be a problem later on! And def. go to an oral surgeon instead of a dentist for it.

I just had mine done 2 weeks ago.. I had the IV sedation, I highly suggest that.. It was like an extra $400, I don't remember anything during the procedure.. I don't even remember getting moved from the chair to the recovery room.. I remember waking up later getting into the car.. So far so good with the healing.. we'll see in a few months when all the nerves calm back down..

All in all it was $1800 for the procedure and about $70 for the prescriptions since I don't carry medical insurance.

Depends on whether they are impacted or not. Would also recommend an oral surgeon. All in all not that bad just be ready to chew and eat from the front of your mouth for a few days. Good Luck

I definitely agree with those mentioning an oral surgeon.
I had all 4 removed at once, and all were impacted...no fun at all,
but having an oral surgeon and the IV definitely made things smoother...

I only had the bottom two. The top ones never decided to show up. However they gave me Vicodin and I'm allergic so the pain was fairly bad with only IB profin to help.

I had all 4 removed at the same time and had a hard time after. Had dry sockets and jacked up on pain meds for a week. But some people have no problems at all. Flip a coin and have them removed.

my dentist has been bugging me to get them pulled for years but i keep putting it off. they aren't impacted, just got a cavity in one of them. either way, i feel around my mouth and think without them, chewing is going to be more work? i don't know. sounds stupid but they are so big in comparison to the other teeth.

get the gas, feel no pain. if you have a good oral surgeon you should not feel much until after. By then you should have Vicodin.

My son had 4 extracted by his dentist, I had 5 that had fused to my jawbone scraped off by a surgeon. My son was tranqued, I chose to sleep through it... heavy meds helped us both, before, during, and after, but it wasn't fun. Lots of bruising... roughly 3 days you'll want to sleep through as much as possible.

Hadd all 4 removed at the same time....Barefootsies is right go to an oral surgeon and DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU....no sugary drinks....unsweet tea is good for them You dont want a dry socket.

and when he gives you the antibiotics TAKE THEM or risk a sinus infection that could require surgery itself. (your roots are VERY close to the sinus canals and thats why they give you the antibiotics.

Its painful for a few days but after that it heals quickly

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled at once when I was in my early 20's...by a Navy dentist.

After the anesthesia set-in, all that I recall was the dentist physically perched on the arm of a chair with a big pair of plyers, literally pulling and twisting on my teeth and the roots, until he could get enough leverage to rip them out.

A few times I heard snaps and cracks, and felt that he was surely breaking my jaw. Other than that, it wasn't too bad of an experience...

Thank goodness for Codeine! I have a pretty high threshold tolerance for pain, so I saved about half of my Codeine pills for future concerts (which almost made it worth the experience - talking about feeling comfortably numb, hehe).

Good luck!

None pain. I was prescribed Tylenol 3's and I took them for about two days. All four out. I was about 15, so if you are older nd those bastards are anchored into your jaw - YMMV.

In junior high I had the back 4 pulled at the same time as the two baby canine teeth that never fell out. The oral surgeon put me under so I don't remember much pain. I just remember being miserable when I got home because of all the gaws and saliva I kept spitting out constantly.

I went to an oral surgeon... they put me under, but I came to just as they were cutting the last one out (did 4 at once)... it was the worst pain of my life. Definitely have your painkiller prescription filled and ready to go. I also looked like a bruised and swollen chipmunk for a good 10 days.

Had my bottom ones done in the 80's in h.s. in Hawaii. They did local anesthesia (shots) and I'm hard to anesthetize so it took 10 shots to go numb on the right side and 7 on the left. The shots hurt more than anything. I was wide awake during the process and could hear the cracking and breaking since they were impacted. I. watched a little of it on the reflection of the OS glasses but it was hard to focus because he had to kind of yank a lot.
I bought a waterpik, flushed after each meal except the last one before I went to get the stitches out... along with a stitches the OS pulled out a ramen noodle. lol.

Several years later I do it in So Cal, this time they knock me out before the procedure. The IV needle was worse than the surgery, but recovering was a lot slower because of the general anesthesia and I remember drooling and sleeping a lot the first day.

Overall, you won't have pain that ibuprofen can't handle (unless you're a typical guy who thinks getting a cold = dying) just use ice packs the first day and rinse often with salt water. You'll be good to go.

They knocked me out completely, took them all out at once, woke up high as hell.. mild soreness for a day or so, then all good.

I have all mine. One grew sideways, I guess due to a crack to the jaw I received from a sucker punch as a teen... but it doesn't bother me.

I did with oral surgeon - had 8 total teeth taken out and was put under for it. Didn't really feel much pain after and even when pain started to come back (which I took pain meds for), it wasn't THAT bad.

When it IS bad though is when there are dry sockets. I went for a checkup and my oral surgeon said I had one, sprayed some shit in it and when he did that, it was like someone stabbed my mouth - instant shooting pain and while I've had worse pain in my life (IBS & throat surgery), that was the worst sudden pain I've ever felt.
