Polished Chinese Knockers

OK so this has zero to do with porn but i just thought id share a project ive been working on for the past week.
I saw online a chinese antique door that i just had to have, but when i found out it cost upwards of $!5,000.00, it was just too much for a door?

So i had some scrap 2x4 pine and a shit load of cedar that i was going to burn on my wood fire.

I got the big brass knocker from China a replica foo dog/lion. I just need to distress the bright gold steel suns to match the brass knocker then im ready to start on the locks and the back of the door. Im thinking ill do the back like the doors i saw on Total Recall. But thats next weeks project.....

Thanks guys i appreciate the good words.
My main work has always been film special effects and i love building stuff like this. Im even thinking of opening up a company to make special order doors at reasonable prices.
Just have to get some CNC routers set up then i can even supply carved panel doors from Dragons to almost anything !

Porn is the icing on the cake

So what do you think a door like that would cost for the end user ?

Beautiful work, but won't the middle decorations get in the way of the door handle?

How are you going to install it? It will just fit into your existing doorframe?
I am looking to get rid of the glass above my door and just make it a bigger wooden door, taller and wider then the average door. We currently have glass on each side, and above. I would rather anchor the door to the frame of the house, instead of the setup now. It looks nice, but any 300 pound man could probably just pull the door off the frame..lol
That is probably true in 98% of households here.

Thats a good point. I have had to modify a std door latch to enable it to fit as most are made for doors that are 1.3/4 to 2 inches thick. This door is 3.1/2 inches thick with 1.1/2 inches of foam in the core for insulation. I found a bank vault lock on e-bay from Israel which is very secure and i only have to mill a small slot that will be almost invisible from the front. I also have to build the frame and threshold as they don't make them for doors this thick. This is an entryway door not an interior and will have two carved Dragons on ether side of the door when its installed this spring. Each Dragon will have motion sensors that will illuminate the eyes and a security camera will record people as they use the brass knocker

So far about 60 hours with another 30+ on the backside and all the moldings that i will putting there. The frame should only be a days work at most>

Thanks, its not really a hobby i make stuff like this for films all the time. I worked on Star Wars, Alien, Superman, Batman, James Bond. Making some unbelievable stuff. I do enjoy it very much. The stuff i make for myself like this door is way more involved than is required for film and as its being used for real it has to last a life time, most film models are built to last a very limited time.

"WebCashMaker;19468538]So what do you think a door like that would cost for the end user ? "

The door i based this on was a Chinese antique value was about $15,000.00 this is my version of that door and when im set up with jigs etc i think i can make them for a retail of around $1200-$1500.00. But shipping would be the killer as this door weighs around 100.00 lb without the back being finished or the hardware installed that im guessing will add another 50 lb or so ..

That is amazing work. I want one! But you better sell them for more than $1,200-1,500 if you are putting almost 100 hours of work in. I'd say your time doing that is worth more than $12-15/hour.
