None pain. I was prescribed Tylenol 3's and I took them for about two days. All four out. I was about 15, so if you are older nd those bastards are anchored into your jaw - YMMV.

I had them out in 1984.

In junior high I had the back 4 pulled at the same time as the two baby canine teeth that never fell out. The oral surgeon put me under so I don't remember much pain. I just remember being miserable when I got home because of all the gaws and saliva I kept spitting out constantly.

I went to an oral surgeon... they put me under, but I came to just as they were cutting the last one out (did 4 at once)... it was the worst pain of my life. Definitely have your painkiller prescription filled and ready to go. I also looked like a bruised and swollen chipmunk for a good 10 days.

Had my bottom ones done in the 80's in h.s. in Hawaii. They did local anesthesia (shots) and I'm hard to anesthetize so it took 10 shots to go numb on the right side and 7 on the left. The shots hurt more than anything. I was wide awake during the process and could hear the cracking and breaking since they were impacted. I. watched a little of it on the reflection of the OS glasses but it was hard to focus because he had to kind of yank a lot.
I bought a waterpik, flushed after each meal except the last one before I went to get the stitches out... along with a stitches the OS pulled out a ramen noodle. lol.

Several years later I do it in So Cal, this time they knock me out before the procedure. The IV needle was worse than the surgery, but recovering was a lot slower because of the general anesthesia and I remember drooling and sleeping a lot the first day.

Overall, you won't have pain that ibuprofen can't handle (unless you're a typical guy who thinks getting a cold = dying) just use ice packs the first day and rinse often with salt water. You'll be good to go.

They knocked me out completely, took them all out at once, woke up high as hell.. mild soreness for a day or so, then all good.

Yes I have, all four. I would highly recommend you go to an oral surgeon versus a dentist. The experience is night and day.

I have all mine. One grew sideways, I guess due to a crack to the jaw I received from a sucker punch as a teen... but it doesn't bother me.

I did with oral surgeon - had 8 total teeth taken out and was put under for it. Didn't really feel much pain after and even when pain started to come back (which I took pain meds for), it wasn't THAT bad.

When it IS bad though is when there are dry sockets. I went for a checkup and my oral surgeon said I had one, sprayed some shit in it and when he did that, it was like someone stabbed my mouth - instant shooting pain and while I've had worse pain in my life (IBS & throat surgery), that was the worst sudden pain I've ever felt.

Only getting 1?

If you get 1 you need to get 2 our. Or you are going to have a horrible time eating

If you get 2 you need to get 4 or your whole jaw will shift over time and your shit wont line up

After the anesthesia set-in, all that I recall was the dentist physically perched on the arm of a chair with a big pair of plyers, literally pulling and twisting on my teeth and the roots, until he could get enough leverage to rip them out.

A few times I heard snaps and cracks, and felt that he was surely breaking my jaw. Other than that, it wasn't too bad of an experience... :upsidedow

Thank goodness for Codeine! I have a pretty high threshold tolerance for pain, so I saved about half of my Codeine pills for future concerts (which almost made it worth the experience - talking about feeling comfortably numb, hehe).

Good luck!

Young 20 myself, looked up at the dentist???? That's what the sign said on the door, gave him the cash and off we went. He was sweating and pulling while cussing the whole time....fuckin, unreal pain experience! I got dry socket from pulling tubes, and getting my nic fix all while catching the last shows of 95! Good times,,,,Good times;)))) Hurt like a mule kicking my face, but am glad the pain eventually passed. Have luck:thumbsup
