Probably because they're online all the time and then you get to the gym with your iPod and say "oh shit, I want to listen to that song but it's not on here." Because you belong to the instant gratification generation, you purchase it... with a credit card that is... and thus add to the problem of a thing called debt.
So let's keep cherry picking are topics.
Even you couldn't deny AK's results after hotfile went down. At least you showed some gratitude then.
I would imagine a guy that loves music so much that he tries and get his hands on as much as possible is prob the most likeliest to buy the most as well.
Same as porn...
The guy that spends all day hunting down free porn and has developed a huge appetite for porn ... is prob very likely to buy porn when he sees something he likes.
A rep from one of the most egregious piracy machines this industry has ever seen commenting in this thread? You clearly have smug cunt down to a science.
What I do hope you learn is the sound a hammer makes as it slices through the air moments before it caves in your skull.
I listen to Internet Radio alot (AddictedToRadio.com hard rock G93 as I write this) and when I hear something I like I will usually buy the single on iTunes.

The first thing I do when I read any published study is skip to the section that describes the methodology employed in the study.
In this case, I stopped reading after I got to:
US results are based on interviews via landline and cellular telephones conducted in English with 2,303 adults, age 18 or older, living in the continental United States, during August 2011.
So, they called people up, said something like "Hey, do you pirate music? Whether yes or no, do you buy music? If so, how much?" and expected honest, accurate replies from the respondents?
That's not a "study," that's a survey, and yes, there's an enormous difference.
There is no mention of random sampling, so it's a non-scientific survey, to boot.
Very compelling.
I'm open to their conclusion, if someone were to provide actual data that supports it, but I'm significantly less than persuaded by the way this particular survey reached that conclusion.

To be fair, solid numbers on this subject are hard to come by and this survey tried harder than many others do to account for the 'respondent fudge factor,' so to speak.
After posting my comment, I noticed that the researchers did acknowledge that:
All surveys contend with the tendency of respondents to answer strategically?to tell the interviewer what they think he or she should hear. This is a particular concern when dealing with activity widely perceived to be unethical or illegal, such as the uploading of music to P2P networks.
I'm going to read the paper in its entirety and suspend my overall judgment of it until after I've done so. Poking through it a bit more, it seems like the problem of terming it a "study" might stem as much from the Huffington Post writer's somewhat selective reading of the paper in coming up with her headline (gee, imagine that) as it does with the claims made in the paper itself.
Something I would love to see these studies do is ask those they question how much music they would buy if piracy were not an option. I have a feeling these same people would still buy more than the average person.
Breaking News:
Filesharers buy a shitload more music than people living in caves, your grandma and greased-up-deaf-guy! News at 11!
Is this gonna get ugly, now? Huh? I hope not. Because I thought what we were here, racial differences notwithstanding, was just a couple of old friends. You know, just both of us Californians.

Thanks for joining in though. I knew ya would.
PS You know how you jumped on my dick about posting a thank you to Epoch for the Xmas pressie, why didn't you do that to the dozens of other people that posted thank yous? Oh yes, cos you've got a hard on for me.
That does make sense. I myself am a huge music lover and I use Zunepass, which you pay a monthly fee and you can download as much music as you want. It's set up where you can only listen to the music while you have the subscription, but I cheat the system and just use a program to pull the protection out of the files, so I can put it on my Ipod and keep forever. However, I've been a member of the service for like 4-5 years now though, so I don't think that's wrong, I'm just giving the ability to be able to enjoy it on another device since my Zune shit out a long time ago.
I've got over 1,200 cds in my collection and when I find an album that is all around awesome, I'll go ahead and buy a hard copy of it for my collection.

Dame - me have a hard on for you ?
What used to really turn me on was the threads where you and your pro piracy tag team bumchum Gideon were squealing about how it wasn't theft and all the content producers should a) be grateful to the content thieves, and b) get over it.
You really made a name for yourself being on the same side as the Gallbladder.
Now I really think you have work to do. Your client is expecting some results.

Well yes, I can think of no other reason as to why you singled out my post thanking someone for a present and ignored the dozens of other ones.
I note with interest that you can't think of an excuse for why you did that either.
You funny little chap!
You can think of no other reason ?
I thought you creative types had a vivid imagination ?
How about I think you are a whiny little cock whose sole career achievement is the relentless baiting of the 3 stooges Markham, Divvy, and Arsewithclass. Bravo, your mother must be so proud. You bullied/bested three halfwitted baffoons. Good work.
Remind me again - how do you monetize such masterful creative work ? Are you seriously suggesting that the assembled GFY throng of potential customers are all banging on your door cheque book in hand, powerless to resist, stupefied by the shock and awe of the master debater at work.
I can hear them now.......
"Please help us with our adult business o great one, we all saw how you argued Markham to a standstill, we simply must have you on board".
I suppose you can name your price for your "consultancy" now that all three are banned.
How is it you can waste you time on here when you have so many new clients to service ?
Better get back to it Dame, you have an email to send.....

As I said, you've got a hard on for me and that is why you had a go at me about posting a thank you and not the dozens and dozens of other people.
Your transparency is amusing. Try to make it less obvious next time, kiddo.
