Obviously a gun taken out of the trunk of the car wasn't used in the shooting. How about go read interviews from the fucking Cops that were there or the medical examiner that took care of the bodies.

Yes there was a Assault Rifle used. It was a .22 cal Ar-15.

This was disappointing - This man just lost his child to a man with a legally purchased assault rifle they feel they have the right to heckle him? Maybe they would feel differently if their child was recently murdered.

It it stunning that anyone wonders why the Department Of Homeland Security purchases assault rifles.

To disrespect the father who has lost a child because you disagree with him is disgusting.

Allow him to speak his piece then stand and offer your own opinion.

If you can't respect someone's right to be heard why should anyone respect that same right for you?

Lanza was certifiable psycho and the guns he used were not legally purchased, they were stolen. He tried to buy the guns at first, couple of days prior to the shooting, but wasn't legally able to obtain any.

The guns were his mother's whom he lived in the same house.. Yes you can say they were "technically" stolen because they weren't his but lets get real here. That's like saying your kid "stole" your car because he used it with out asking and got into a wreck despite in the past, you allowed him to use it with no objections.

Quit trying to "muddy" the water with half truths and BS. It's the same as the idiots whom keep claiming he didn't use an Assault Rifle, which is 100% false and totally made up bullshit

Steven Colbert has a word for that..

Truthiness is a quality characterizing a "truth" that a person claims to know intuitively "from the gut" or because it "feels right" without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts.

He didn't use an assault rifle.

Assault rifles are select fire. They are legally considered machine guns.

Captain Aspie's bushmaster wasn't an assault rifle.

From someone that's been to war and handled everything from handguns to leopard 1 tanks, I really don't understand why regular civilians feel the need to own assault rifles.

I must be dumb, but unless you believe that civil war is about to break loose or that your world is about to be invaded by space monkeys or something - why would you need it?

All those kids are dead, and you guys are really going to argue over the definition of an "Assualt" rifle.

Who fucking cares what you call the gun that killed those kids?

Way to miss the point.

Freedom. That's what's at risk and what the statists seem to be determined to take. You may like being a subject of the Federal government but some of us don't.

So you seriously think that if the federal government show up at your door to take your stuff, you can stop them with an assault rifle?

It's the space monkeys one. Just look at the people in this thread who actually do not believe that the ar-15 was even used in the shooting, when every single bullet was fired from the ar-15 except the suicide bullet. Definitely the space monkeys thing.

How is wanting a ban on large ammo clips and semi automatic weapons "anti-gun" anyway? Am I anti-car if I want nitrous oxide tanks to be illegal?

Also, the second amendment is as antiquated and inapplicable as the third, but I'm still not against it. It simply never has and still does not mean you have a right to bear any kind of killing device and any add-on upgrade ever invented. So get used to being governed or start your own country I guess?

Actually, if you look back through the thread, you will see that this whole thing is actually untrue. he was interacting with the crowd. There was no heckling, and the premise of this thread is false.

Just FYI

When it was written the people had bayonets and the governments had cannons and battle ships. I don't think there were limits set since the idea is to be able to protect yourself from and possibly overthrow if needed the tyranical government.

The right to bear arms is an important right. Not nearly as important as the ones we've already lost though.

Innocent until proven guilty. Gone.

Right to remain silent. Gone.

Right to privacy. Gone.

Freedom of Speech. Gone.

While you're arguing about guns and what defines an "Assault" rifle, the rest of your freedoms are being stripped away.

what about the freedom to not be killed by some nut who was able to get his hands on a gun way too easily?

also thats such a stupid thing to say anyways, assault riles = freedom but tanks, grenades, homemade bombs do not? if you are for "freedom" b your definition, you must be for the legalization of absolutely everything under the sun

Would Europe be considered the "civilized world"? Nice and peaceful?

Coulda sworn that Europe was war after war after bloody horrible war for the last few thousand years.

Hell, most of the civilized world doesn't NEED to own guns. They are constantly being issued military uniforms and being GIVEN guns to kill the people in the next country over.

yeah ok civilized may not be best choice of words, anyway I just dont see how owning guns to some people is the essence of freedom but mainly I wanted to post that will ferrell pic as I think it's hilarious and sums up the post i originally quoted.

after the port arthur massacre in Aus where something like 35 people were killed there was none of this left vs right politicized debate like ive seen here blah blah freedom, my rights. It was just like 35 people are dead, thats unacceptable, fuck this we dont want it to happen again and the conservative government at the time took all of 12 days to pass new laws and enact strict gun control. 0 mass shootings since then.

If a politician or public person says something and gets heckled I'm fine with it, that's part of the deal.

When someone who is a private person has their child murdered (whether it was done with a gun or a balloon) no matter what he says, whether you agree with it or not... You just quietly sit there and let him say it. The problem here is that a formerly private person decided to go say things to a public legislature, not a few people in his kitchen. The heckling is in poor taste and not something I'd ever do, but he did give up his privacy voluntarily when he decided to become a public speaker. Personally, I think the hecklers helped his cause more than they harmed it. If he really wants guns restricted, he should hope to be heckled every time a television camera is around.

Seems like heckled was not a proper description of what happened in this case. He asked a question and paused. When he paused some people responded to the question and then quieted down when asked to.

I've protested the Westboro Baptist group's appearances at funerals several times.

I'm protesting their message, not their right to be there. I think it's terrible of them to desecrate a military funeral with their anti-gay crap, but that's their right.

Enjoying Freedom of Speech comes with the obligation to support those same rights for people even when their message makes you sick.

You all got trolled, hard. MSNBC edited this to make it look like this.

Search out the unedited version and be appalled that a "news" agency would stoop to this sort of journalism...again.

How about he doesn't want the same thing to happen to others ??

What does that have anything to do with anything?

Then promote peaceful parenting or take the guns and drones away from the government

Do you know how little if at all, the opinions of people in other countries matter to us?

It is a misleading headline and a FAKE story

The guns were in fact legally purchased.

This is what gun nuts do not understand - the more firearms we have out there, the more that will be stolen. The more firearms we have out there, the more chances there is the mentally ill and criminals will get them.

Two things we need for sure is a requirement to register firearms, and more legal responsability behind the firearms - meaning, if your firearm is not secured and is used to kill twenty school children well then you go to prison for that crime too.

As for the registration, it boggles my mind this isn't a federal requirement. My father died in Vietnam and he left behind a number of handguns. Forty-five years alter no one in my family can tell me what happened to them. That's scary.

Kind of like Operation Fast and Furious?

The freedom to bear arms.

The freedom not to have your children shot.

I reckon about 8500 Americans a year regret they didn't live in Europe.

(because they have been murdered by guns )

Americans aren't addicted to guns, they are addicted to freedom, and the ability to defend that freedom if necessary.

Not by the shooter.

The shooter had to steal them.

They don't care about that though, it doesn't fit their agenda that every gun owner is a total psycho who would heckle someone who lost a child to gun violence...

what freedom did these kids or anyone else who is a victim of gun violence have? in those cases guns were used to take away freedom. you know what they say, if you live by the sword, you'll die by the sword.
