Sorry but other countries are, they just show it in different ways.
The UK has shite newspapers filling their pages with celeb bollocks, but other countries have magazines/tv programs instead. Biggest selling mags in Spain are all celeb gossip, you get 3-4 hours a day tv aswell. Same as Italy.

You notice the UK more as it's your language. Reminds me of my mother that loves coming to Spain as kids dont swear all te time in the street, I point out to her that they swear more than in the UK she just doesn't understand what they say.

I would, because it would encourage other bums to get out of the ditch.

Look at the highlighted words/phrases in your post above.
They define a method.

People have basically two methods of controlling other people :

1. Kick them when they are down and this will make them get up

2. Encourage them to get up and congratulate those that do

Number 1 is a "punishment system".
Number 2 is a "reward system".

The words in your post show that you clearly favor the "punishment system" method.

Wow, some semblance of intelligence from Sortie. Impressive.

It's hard to believe those two women in the picture are actually the same person.

getting your shit together for 30 days, by eating healthier, and hitting the gym for 30 mins a day is not...

that being said, nothing wrong with some praise, but lets not act like something huge was accomplished...
:2 cents:

Fuck that, you obviously are not or have not been a fat fuck.
Getting a masters degree is easier than losing weight.

Everyday people who decide to turn their life around and get in shape or better themselves should be praised for things like this. Not everyone can afford dieticians or personal trainers to help speed this process up. Celebrities do it on purpose for fitness dvds or to model new clothes ranges, I have no praise for them whatsoever. Your everyday guy or girl who busts their ass every day at the gym, I have all the praise in the world for.

For example, you have a potty mouth (not that I don't LOL.) But your mother might praise you if you corrected it. I know mine would!

I heart you...waiting for my soup :)

I've been quite overweight and in a pretty poor shape in the past, not quite a "fat fuck", but still quite overweight... getting in shape wasn't that bad, first few weeks were perhaps a bit hard, but after that you get used to it and it's not bad at all...

Yup, and that was my point.

(although i did mention the general public that was maybe a mistake as i do think some people should be congratulated).

Her legs are mostly not under the dress and I do not see saggy skin there (as in "old" picture) :2 cents:

I agree you shouldn't be praised for getting fat and then losing it, don't gain it in the first place.
