HTC's designers seem to be cognizant of the fact that smartphones are growing too large for some people to use comfortably, but the company is taking a truly bizarre approach in trying to rectify the problem. Meet the HTC Mini, an NFC / Bluetooth-enabled device that's now being bundled with the 5-inch HTC Butterfly in China. Yes, HTC seems to think giving you a second, more ergonomic handset to carry around (and keep charged) is a better alternative to shrinking down its flagship Android phones. The candybar-style device pairs up with the Butterfly via NFC, after which Bluetooth is used to display notifications, text messages, calendar entries, and more. You can even place voice calls with the Mini, relegating your primary handset and its stunning 1080p display to the dark confines of your pocket.

JUST KEEP THAT PHONE YOU PAID SO MUCH MONEY FOR IN YOUR POCKET

Still more functionality is baked into the odd companion device: it can act as a remote control when the Butterfly is tethered to your TV and displaying content on screen. There's also a phone locator feature that will prompt your 5-inch handset to sound an alert if you somehow can't find it. (Wouldn't the Mini prove easier to lose?) It even doubles as a remote shutter trigger for the Butterfly's camera. The idea itself isn't horrible: it's easy to envision something like this proving useful when paired with an Android tablet, for instance. But as an accessory for a smartphone? It should not have come to this.

Don't know what you have against htc, i used to have htc tytn 2, desire, desire hd, now i have htc one x, and they all worked great without any problem.

I bought the Desire Z strictly because it had a keyboard -- and it was the best keyboard on a phone, in my opinion, at the time.

My only issue with the Desire Z has been battery life. Even a replacement battery gets drained fairly fast with this thing, especially with Wi-Fi turned on.

That said, I can't see a reason for me to get another Smart Phone. My next phone will be just a simple phone as I don't use, or want, all the extra crap and social networking nonsense that come with the Smart Phones. All I want/need is a phone.

had samsung the most but now i got a htc wildfire s. Chose this one because it fits in my pocket unlike all the unpractical huge screen phones. Havent had any problems with it.

I went looking at phones before Christmas. A lot of the new ones are getting too big to comfortably go in your pocket.

They already make those and they only cost $9.99. After going through 2x $300+ phones in a year and a half and paying $60 bucks a month for a cell phone I said fuck that and switched to a pre-paid no contract service.

I paid $9.99 for the phone and it's lasted me for 2 years with out any problems. I end up paying about 25-30 month for service on average. The best thing is because it's just a basic phone the battery lasts forever.

I toyed with getting an iphone 6 months or so ago but after finding out I'd pay about $80-90 a month and have pay a few hundred for the phone I just couldn't see any reason to do so. It might be nice to have internet on my phone but it isn't worth almost almost $100 a month to me.
