Besides many people are waiting for the Surface Pro instead. With Windows 8, better resolution and included pen.

Oh yeah, a pen and a two hour battery life!

Windows has been available on tablets for ten years plus. No one wanted it.

The market is pretty crazy right now. Its behaving very non intuitively, but thats how things go. Bottom line is from these 400 - 450 levels $AAPL is a double in 3 to 4 yrs. And that aint bad at all.

I am sure most of the new Windows 8 tablets will have more than two hour battery life.

Although available on tablets, none of the previous Windows versions were really made or optimized for these.

OS X has been available on Macs for ten years plus. No one wanted it.

I doubt it. They are advertising them as 4-5 hours, so in real world use one can usually half that.

OK, let's think about this for a second. Metro has put in some nice big tiles you can hit with your fist. Good. But after you have actually launched your windows pro app, it's still windows on a tablet. That no one wanted. Until Apple showed the world how tablet computing is meant to be.

The problem is windows8 is trying to be both a tablet AND a desktop OS in one. And that is its failing. iOS and OSX are similar, but different. That is why it works.

And hardly anyone is using it, hence the very low market share. Not sure of the point you are trying to make?

I don't see it as a problem. It is not trying to be both. It is both.

Currently 40K Metro apps (I think I read somewhere it is 40K at the moment) for tablet usage.

Attach keyboard (Surface Pro, Asus VivoTab, Samsung ATIV Smart PC, HP Envy x2, Acer Iconia W510) or dock it (HP ElitePad 900, Dell XPS 10, Acer Iconia W7, Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx K3011, Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 3679) or buy a hybrid (MSI Slider S20, ASUS Taichi, Dell XPS 12, Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga) and then add a mouse and you have your desktop experience.

Attach a keyboard and a mouse to your ipad and run your OS X desktop programs... oh wait.. you can't.

While tablets like Surface Pro and Acer Iconia W7 Core i5 tablets may not have the best battery life (yet to see), the Atom based oned should do pretty well. Fx Asus VivoTab is announced 10.5h and 19h with the keyboard dock.

And that *is* the problem. The fact you don't see it as one is cool and dandy. More than entitled to your opinion.

From what I have read, there seems to be a lot of confusion within the company. So perhaps this has something to do with it.

Total Greater China revenue including retail was $7.3 billion, up 62% from a year ago.
So all ok, excep Mac units 4.06 million, dropping 22% year over year, but who cares, report is records for total revenue, iPhone units, and iPad units...

It is just investors panicking, because "Steve Jobs is dead" and "Android is by google anbd samsung who are so cool now".

Also seriously, 500 billion dollar value for Apple make no sense is 3 times more it makese sense, so -10% is just great, should be -60% to correct into a real market value.

Since Oct it has tanked 40% of its value. Does that fit into your theory?

What people don't realize is Apple hasn't even moved into countries with roaring economies like Brazil. They have a few stores in China (that crank sales) and Europe, but that's about it.

Sure, the iPhone 5 was a flop. I didn't get one. I didn't get an iPad 2 or 3 either. Apple has such a huge dominance in tablets and really is only a minor player in the cell phone market.

I wish I'd cashed out at 750$ (remember the capital gains), but selling at a 52 week low just retarded.

This is an over correction. Apple is worth about $550.

Apple also has GOBS of cash...what if they went and bought Twitter or made some other great acquisition? :winkwink:

Great, except Brazil is a pretty poor country, trying to sell $500 phone there, when $200 equally good [or even better] alternative exists isn't going to work very well... sure there is some potential, but it's going to be a hard sell... :2 cents:

Brazil has a growing middle-class, not a shirking one.

Not sure if that's what he meant, but in Jan 2013, capital gain taxes went from 15% to 20% (I think?) so that's an additional loss on top of the 35%+ slide from the highs...

it's a pretty damn shitty position to be in now, I wouldn't want to sell at 52week low and then pay higher tax on top of that either... :2 cents:
