If the records are in order and the house is registered as a cabin/house then it's extremely unlikely. If they're registered as farm buildings, then find out if they can be converted. In some places it's easy. The Med coast not so easy.

A lot of it happened with developers building new stuff without permissions, or converting farm buildings without enough land to legal change the building type.

I understand if you are not looking for that, or it might not even be available whereever you are, but i think Ikea has stuff like that for under 1000$.

I have a 22.000? garage (7x2.8m) i rent out, but if i could, i'd trade it for a recreational 'chalet' in the woods any day.
