My friend just bought a wii for his kids on the weekend and I couldn't believe how bad the graphics were. Looked closer to xbox 1 than the current gen.

Wii was never about graphics.

it was about group play/replay

thats why they outsold both ps3 and xbox combined

But with many of the games it just seemed lazy that the graphics were so poor.

The novelty was of course the gameplay, but surely the console is/was capable of producing better looking games.

Paying £40 for each game to swing your arms about the exact same way no matter what game got tiresome and boring very, very quickly...

dillonaire 01-21-2013 11:12 AM

I still have my sega genesis.

magicmike 01-21-2013 12:29 PM

I rarely played my xbox 360 this past year but have played the new COD a few times.

That said I'd likely get the new xbox, Sony just feels like they are dying to me. Losses year after year, no new innovation, they don't take advantage of their studio content properly.

Their transition looks pretty shitty so far to me.

I couldn't agree with you more. My roommate bought a Wii and out of all the games that came out for the damn thing only a small handful actually seemed decent. Why Nintendo chose to release a system that was only slightly more powerful than the Gamecube is beyond me. The Wii is a steaming pile of crap and that pains me to say considering I grew up a huge Nintendo fan. My favorite system is still the Super Nintendo, for crying out loud. I used to absolutely adore Nintendo but over the last few years they've really lost me.

I used to have a Gamecube. I LOVED the Star Wars games on it.

The Wii doesn't have anything that even comes close. They chose swinging your arms about the place to shitty looking games, over making decent quality games...

Got the Wii U and love it

It sold more units but not more than both combined. I think it sold around 97 million units while the ps3 and xbox are just over 70 million each. However systems like the xbox are still selling millions of units in hardware and software while the wii is dead in the water.

Holy fuck, I never saw that game, breaking out my GameCube and heading down to the used video game store this weekend just cause of this.

In other news, if I buy one, it'll be XBox for sure.

just a punk 01-21-2013 03:00 PM

The only problem is that GameCube can't handle modern HD TV panels.

Those pics are from Rogue Leader and next one on Gamecube was Rebel Strike. Both very similar and both good games. If you are a fan of the movies of course.

Halo sucks. Killzone FTW!

Rochard 01-21-2013 09:14 PM

Consoles are for little girls.

baryl 01-21-2013 09:36 PM

PC gaming is already two years ahead of the next console generation.
Not to mention all the money you save on games through Steam and Amazon sales.

Though like most everyone on this forum, I already spend all day hunched over a computer so I'll probably buy one or the other after a couple of months. I'll let the other suckers find out if there are any red ring of death type issues.

:1orglaugh

So funny and so true!

I still have my Gamecube and play it from time to time. Resident Evil 4 and Zelda: Wind Waker are two games I'll never be able to get rid of. Love 'em.

Just thought I'd bump this instead of starting a new thread....

Anyone heard any release dates yet? I've read this xmas, and next xmas, but nothing conclusive. Plus I'm seeing the 160gb PS3s on sale, as if they are tying to clear them to reduce the price on current larger models, perhaps ahead of a new release?

rebel.latte 01-26-2013 09:31 PM

I always start out on Sony but end up getting Xbox too. there is always those exclusive titles you want. I use a Mac mini as a htpc with xbmc or boxee so it's pure gaming power I'd be after.

CurrentlySober 01-27-2013 05:39 AM

i shall intend to defecate upon both... (pics optional...)

TheFootMan5 01-27-2013 12:37 PM

I am considering it!

Think the new X-Box is an Xmas release, but again nothing has been 100% confirmed yet.

I think it speaks volumes though that when you look at release dates for games for both current consoles, there isn't really anything mentioned so far after June or July. Of course that can change, but i do think it's because most companies are starting or have started work on games for the next gen consoles...

Scott McD 01-27-2013 01:37 PM

I think this will be my next games purchase. Due out 12th Feb here.

http://p.playserver1.com/ProductImag..._500x500_1.jpg

I have high hopes for it. Just hope it doesn't disappoint...

Heath 01-27-2013 02:15 PM

I have an xbox 360 and will probably upgrade if they force us too. But honestly, I rarely ever use it for gaming. I only use it for the apps, netflix/hulu/hbo ect. Which could easily be replaced with something like a roku.

jollyhumper 01-27-2013 02:46 PM

No.

Pc gaming or stupid novelty games on Iphone.
Need more time to play the guitar

grzepa 01-28-2013 11:25 AM

If i'd buy one it'd be ps4

bl4h 01-28-2013 11:34 AM

ill be buying the next playstation. Ive been playing a lot less, but games like GTA and Skyrim, farcry3 keep me into videogames. ive played many more but havent really been impressed by any of them. they need to stop all this "smash triangle" and all these linear games. i want an open world like the ones i mentioned

purecane 01-28-2013 11:38 AM

Games? You guys are talking about this shit Way to seriously. How about you take your ass outside and see some real graphics??? Like the ocean, some mountains or an abandoned building even. Games are for kids. (Except madden)

I'm going xbox only next time I think, so hopefully that is true. There seems to be quite a lot of rumours that both could be this year, so fingers crossed we'll hear something at e3 (usually may right?).

Yeah, this is something I keep reading aswell, about no major titles after summer.

I'm excited :)

brassmonkey 01-28-2013 01:30 PM

nope im too old for that shit. need to do some traveling

It's cold as shit outside. I don't have kids. The ocean is full of pollution. The mountains have been seen loads of times. And checking out abandoned buildings isn't a hobby of mine...

MasterBlow 01-28-2013 01:42 PM

Based on searches on Google, Microsoft’s next-generation game console will probably be more popular than Sony’s. So, my vote goes to Xbox!

Scott McD 01-28-2013 02:26 PM

To be honest, all the talk about spec etc. I think the burning question has to be "cost?"

I'm intrigued as to what prices both Sony and Microsoft will set on release. With some of the talk going around, i think they are in danger of pricing a lot of people out of the market. Time will tell...

Choopa Phil 01-28-2013 02:36 PM

Probably going to wind up getting both...Sony first, followed by Xbox. I feel like the PS is more of a "mature" gaming system if you will.

MrMaxwell 01-28-2013 06:31 PM

..........NO..........

I don't play video games.

Get a component cable for the Cube if your cube has the output (Some do, some just have S-video and some have none..) and if you can find one, or use the Wii.. :thumbsup
