It is not what .xxx accomplished, its what they set out to do. And you are now helping to re-boot the war chest for their next great idea.Todd Spaits - Co-founder -YanksCash

What they set out to do? What is that?
But I guess you are admitting that branding on my site must help a lot. Perhaps you guys should sponsor the next event.Comment

So tonight I am pretty busy and unfortunately have to leave this thread until tomorrow. You asked what they set out to do? In short they wanted to put the industry in a TLD ghetto. I won't go on, because your a really bright guy and I know you know that. I know you get the big picture.
Unfortunately, the branding didn't work for me. I actually just checked out your site for the first time tonight. Not because it's a bad site, but because I haven't been to a show since you started "pimping" the show pics. You probably were back then, but I was more aware of JFK at the time. That really isn't meant to be a insult in anyway, I am just being honest. I like what you represented in the biz.
However I won't be back. I want to support what I feel is the sustainable model of this industry. I don't want to support the people outside of that sustainable model. Those include people or companies that engage in content theft, patent trolling, TLD trolling and people/companies that defraud their surfers and affiliates.
Is that a pipe dream? Yes, absolutely, but I will stick with it as long as I can. I get that we all need to pay our bills, but I will still clear of doing business with you until your reverse course. And yes, I have never sent you a check, so this conversation probably doesn't mean much to you or me, but you never know.Todd Spaits - Co-founder -YanksCash

I get it. I don't take issue with your business decision, however I do take issue with you not owning it.
Why wasn't I at a protest? Because I live in Seattle and I never got word of one here. Would I have went, probably not. However I did protest with my wallet and my voice. I opposed .xxx publicly and I have never bought one domain.
Look dude, I respect you but own the sponsorship and support the people who paid you. I have seen you engage in some really great debates here at GFY when you want to and this effort is weak. Why? More then likely because you don't really believe in this one.
So no offense, however you look a bit foolish to question my beliefs on the matter when I own no .XXX domains and have never supported them publicly, while you admit to having been to a protest (IN PERSON) and you now have the logo on your site.
I made a mild protest and stayed the course, you committed to marching on the issue and back tracked. It is what it is, but own it.

Sorry for the quick response last time; my dogs wanted walking and goodgirl was encouraging them.I get it. I don't take issue with your business decision, however I do take issue with you not owning it.

The protest was in San Francisco and pretty well publicized to the adult community. I drove up there. It would be an easy flight for a program owner of a long time successful program; right? Everyone knew the day the vote would be taken, so there was another reason for you to show up. Hell, you sponsor the FSC, how could you not know about it?
If you honestly felt that strongly about the issue; and apparently you should since you are a program owner and it would effect you a lot more than it will ever effect me, then there is no reason why you should not have been there.
About your earlier comment; "I don't want to support the people outside of that sustainable model. What does any of that have to do with me or my site?
Oh yeah, do you block traffic from .xxx domains?Comment

This baffles me so much... There's so many people who are against .XXX and bash anybody who even says anything remotely positive about .XXX on this board, yet such a little turnout at the protest...The protest was in San Francisco and pretty well publicized to the adult community. I was very surprised. If you looked at the video, some of those people were passer-by that agreed. One was a homeless dude that was a Vietnam vet and had not been to a protest in years. I think I even said the same thing about my experience. Having been born in SF it seemed only appropriate that I do my last protest there.
What was sad was there were very few SF webmasters there. Some came and stood to the side as I recall.
I don't see anything in the yanks TOS suggesting .XXX sites are forbidden. I am sure that will be modified soon.Last edited by baddog; 01-21-2013, 08:59 PM.Comment

Just confirms that it's easier to be a keyboard supporter than actually someone who does something about it.I was very surprised. Baddog is class amongst the classlessI am not a proponent of purchasing .xxx domains; but there are many webmasters that have purchased them anyway. Letting search.xxx sponsor my photos helps webmasters that have made the purchase.
If you want to sponsor my photos for future shows, please feel free to contact me for rates. I am not surprised that a search engine (aka search.xxx) finds value in my search engine rankings. Let me know when you find a site that ranks better than PimpsPromo when it comes to adult shows.
Not sure why you think I should travel to shows on my own dime; nor do I really care. The fact is I spoke with several program owners, CEO's, veeps that have all said the same thing; GFY trolls do not pay my bills.Comment

I do not block traffic from .xxx domains, however I hand approve every affiliate and have never made one sale from a .xxx domain. Truth be told 90% of my sales are from in-house traffic, so it's not hard to avoid them.Sorry for the quick response last time; my dogs wanted walking and goodgirl was encouraging them.

I believe strongly in a lot of things and don't fly to every protest. It's a good diversion tactic though to make this about me, vs. the .XXX logo on your pics.
Like I said, I get it, we all need to pay our bills. I would just be nice if the cool people left in the biz stayed away from the people and companies who come in and rape us from time to time.
I am crystal clear on my .XXX stance. I don't by them, I don't support them.Todd Spaits - Co-founder -YanksCash

How is search.xxx raping you? And judging by the number of people that did come to the protest or even sent in letters against it, there are very few people that care one way or the other.Comment

My stand is that .XXX and the movement behind it was bad for the core of this industry. It was a play to make a very small amount of people a large amount of money that was then unrelated to the industry's ongoing success. Like I said before I will not spend my day explaining to you how .XXX could have gone awry and could do so in the future, your smart, you get it.
You clearly are a proponent of search.xxx and .XXX. I am notTodd Spaits - Co-founder -YanksCash

because endorsing their search engine isn't doing anything to help promote the .xxx brand and try to make it get more traffic??? of course it is. Which would make .xxx domains more profitable and more porn companies would want to buy them if they get more traffic. for a "branding" expert you should don't understand how endorsing their .xxx search engine is branding their .xxx domains and thus supporting them.
you really are a slow mo'fucker. they setout to first get .xxx approved. which they did. their next step is to try to make it mandatory. what do you think you best gf joan was hired for? she is going to try to get all porn sites to be forced to use .xxx domains only. this would make icm 100x more money then they are making now. you a dumb mo'fucker if you don't think this is part of their master plan. so your excuse that it's already a reality why not promote them is flawed and naive. if you were smart you would know that this is just the first step for them. the more widely accepted the .xxx domains become the easier it can be for them to show that porn industry has accepted it and use it, so then they can force people to stop using .com .net .etc . Then we are not only at ICM's mercy and have to pay their price but it is easier for the rest of the world to filter us out. For someone who tries to come off as smart you are about as smart as a box of rocks. so keep trying to justify why you sold out for $500. If ICM ever succeeds we can thank you for helping them. asshole.Last edited by kyro; 01-22-2013, 12:48 PM.Comment
