Banking, Stocks, eMail, Music, Movies, Contacts, Police Scanner, Flashlight, Web, FB, Twitter, eBay, Photos, Videos, Camera, Voice Notes, Language Learning, Site Stats, Mobile HotSpot, etc... Oh yeah, and it's also capable of acting as a phone!

Really amazing piece of hardware!

But is it more comfortable for business than doing the same on desktop. If i understood you correctly - even if you are near your desktop you are using your phone instead of PC for some business needs.

I know. And *only* $1020 (when you get the must have keyboard cover), with an ADVERTISED 4 hour battery life, which will be more like 2 hours in real world usage.

It's gonna flop. There. I called it.

We'll see what happens. It's not like Microsoft is in make or break mode right about now.

I'm sure they'll pull a play out of Asus' playbook and develop a new keyboard cover with an extended battery.

But, looking at things objectively, you're not going to accomplish what they're going for and still have room for a huge battery. Remember, the pro is a full fledged mobile PC, not a tablet... and it's only 1/2 thicker and 1/2 lb heavier than the Surface.

I'm not saying it'll be perfect, but nothing ever is, but I highly doubt it'll flop.

People said that about the Surface RT.

I bet you $100 bucks it's a massive failure.

Biggest problem with the Surface RT was not selling it in stores, I went to best buy and tried to pick up a couple Surfaces for X-Mas presents, only to find out you had to order them online from Microsoft. I think the sales would have been good if they were easy to access.

Which stores will be selling the Surface Pro then? Obviously MS have learnt from their mistake, as you see it.

The guy at Best Buy said the RT was only available from Microsoft's website. but when the pro comes out they will carry it.

I don't see how it "flopped", as far as the machine itself goes. The lack of apps in the microsoft store, and the lack of availability in stores (as the post belows yours mentions) isn't an indication of the device itself being a flop. Poor marketing and an infant stage app store, sure.. but those speak nothing of the device.

Then again, you seem to be an ipad fan, so no matter what anyone says you'll be stuck like glue to the "new" ipad with last years specs when compared to other devices.

vdbucks 01-16-2013 10:05 AM

Not to mention, I can't really see an angle where microsoft had huge expectations from the surface rt... considering we pretty much knew the pro was coming damn near since the release of the rt.

So personally, I think the surface rt was a 'testing phase' to see if consumer interest was there, before coming out with the pro.

I have nothing to back this claim up of course, just my opinion.

And even if I'm right, there's still nothing wrong with the surface rt... aside from a problem that microsoft can't really control, the app store.

Because it didn't sell well.

Well, what would you really expect? You go to a store to buy it and they tell you you have to order from Microsoft... so unless you really, really want it, you're going to buy a different product. Add to that the lack of available apps in their store, and you end up with a hit or miss recipe for success or failure.

Once again, these 2 issues that I already addressed are not an indication of the device itself being a "flop".

Not to mention, the surface pro won't suffer from the lack of app availability in the store, due to the fact that it'll be running on windows 8.

As far as availability goes, that's something I nor anyone else can really comment on at this point, but one would have to assume that Microsoft wouldn't make the mistake again either.

I'd expect it to sell well. As MS did.

Not sure if you know, but there is this whole internet thing now and people, especially tech savvy people, are more than used to buying online.

I love the excuses you come up with for it failing so badly though, it's sweet.

And then what? So the first tablet they produced themselves didn't have the expected results.. I guess they should just take their ball, quit and go home. Right?
