Can you please tell us why this is costing $50k? It sounds like something you could pull off for $5k. Before you come up with an 'interesting' answer remember there are 2 people reading this thread who are actively getting paid by major labels. One of them even signs talent.

So you were saying...?

D contact me at [email protected].

I have a lot of music industry contacts and did deals with some "known around the world" type groups over the years.

I also have a biz partner in LA who handles a lot of music deals.

The entire music biz is in recession right now ...

MP3.Com, EMusic, Farmclub, and many more are all pretty much a joke ... These guys couldn't figure out how to make money on the net with hundreds of millions.

But you're going to pull it off with 50K .... riiiiggghhhttt.

Another indie artist site ... gee, what a radical concept ... NOT. Escort is right. You're about five years behind the times man.

And who the fuck are you anyway --- what are your credentials?

But hey, I guess there's a sucker born every minute ... can't hurt to ask I suppose. Let us know if you get that 50K ... LMAO!

True of Farmclub, which was always owned by Universal. But not true of MP3.Com, which originally raised hundreds of millions on the idea that indie artists could be profitable on the net -- back during the dot com craze.

But, since MP3.Com couldn't make money on indie artists, they then tried to become a major label by ripping off major label music. They were then sued for copyright infringement and lost (a $100 million judgement, among others) --- forcing them to pay major damages and, eventually, to sell out to Universal. Emusic also couldn't cut it as an indie site and, I believe, sold out to Universal as well.

This is the furthest thing from the truth. Dude, if you could see the belt tightening over the most mundane things you would be surprised. Even projects with proven stars attached are seeing 25% of what they would have just a year ago. The times are a changing.

Net money is shit right now for the labels as well since the brightest stars for future revenue such as Pressplay are having way less success than anyone had anticipated. This is really messing up the optimisim when it comes to funding new music/net companies.

On the flip side, let me say this is something that was supposed to happen. We've had a great time in the music biz for a long time. Limos, fine hotels the best restaurants and plenty of hookers and blow for all was the norm... until last year. That was all on the artist's dime. No one really cared about profits as much as living well and expense accounts. It's like we all made the money to enjoy it... which is a cool premise for an enjoyable business when you think about it but that had to end. It's not totally over but now we are having figure out how to do it all cost effectively.

Ill be honest with you.

Whatever you have in mind will fail.

Do you know anyone in the biz?

This is what happens when American Idol comes out.

Any joe blow thinks he can infiltrate the record indutry and get his name known.

Bullshit.

Ive dedicated more than a decade to securing relationships with music industry related people. In most cases its 'who you know' in the music world. Ask anyone who works in it.

Bands dont get booked by logging on to some silly site and wanting to be a star.

They sleep in cars near the 22 rehearsal studios I have near my pad.

'Its a long way to the top.'

And you wont find it on some 'How to get booked site'

It will fail.

This is the silliest thing I have ever heard. How many of those bands actually support themselves with those gigs? Very few I bet.

I bet most of them have day jobs to pay the bills. If that ain't a recession, I don't know what is.

Most bands are so desperate, they practically play for free. And what are most of them looking for? A major label deal.

That's the way it's always been, of course. But that's no indication of a thriving music biz.

Question: Do you make more money on porn or music?

I bet most of them have day jobs to pay the bills. If that ain't a recession, I don't know what is.

Most bands are so desperate, they practically play for free. And what are most of them looking for? A major label deal.

That's the way it's always been, of course. But that's no indication of a thriving music biz.
Youre an adult webmaster with an opinion about an industry you have no understanding of nor have ever worked in.

I have worked in this industry too long to let your opinion even matter.

I see bands everyday get bigger and bigger because of one night shows at the ROXY, or local band gets noticed at the Troubador because of the headlin act.

I live and breathe music.

While you sit on the board today, know that im here and you are there.

http://www.rumborecorders.com

im going to the studio today.

see you fuckahs later.

gotta be there at 10am.

later.

Haha, Helen's checks? Small world. ;)

Nevermind, I have to be kind of ambiguous about what I do exactly because that is the other half of my income still and unfortunately a lot of the higher level people I deal with cannot be associated with porn in any way. A couple of people on the board know. I have been in the biz on the major label side for over a decade signing groups putting together albums and what not. I would call it paying people and being the ringmaster of all the partying. That is the REAL job description.

I also wrote a few songs, one of which you were sick of hearing because it was played too much. It was pretty damn sappy I must admit. Sold a gang of records though! That was about 5 years ago.

BTW, I have seen someone here in Hollywood invest in the sqme damn thing.

He was a 15 year President of Arista Records I believe who has much more investor connections than anyone on this board.

I think it was /Soundbreak'

it failed. I watched DJ after DJ try out for the parts, it was a big investment.

No return and it failed.
