RE: Guns. Didn't know this, A Welsh-based firm is advertising a Ruger SR-22 semi-automatic as.....

An AR-15 clone.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...in-the-UK.html

There was me thinking we could only (fairly easily/legally) own shotguns in the UK.

I'm not sure of the details of the gun in question myself, I don't know much about different guns etc and the specs. But any clarifying comments from the land of the free would be nice to hear.

I know there is plenty gun fans here so let me know your thoughts please.

P.S. The Sun tends to be a sensationalised piece of shit half the time, )incase you didn't know already).

There are many .22 caliber clones of larger caliber weapons, and they tend to be pretty popular based on how cheap the ammo is and how "cool" the weapon looks.

Yea, I don't understand these .22 AR-15s myself. Smith & Wesson makes one too. Maybe cause they are cheaper than an AR-15 or they appeal to kids. Some parents get their kids a .22 when they are real young.

As an adult though, I would either just get a Ruger 10/22 or a regular AR-15 with a .22 conversion kit. Since the .22 is pretty close to the same diameter as a .223 they make drop in conversion kits where you can use the same barrel.

They also make .22 dedicated uppers for AR-15s. Just take the 5.56 upper off and throw on the .22 upper. Cheaper to shoot. Maybe a little more accurate too.

A 22 is not a powerful gun. It's the only caliber of rifle in Canada that is allowed to be used with clips greater than 5 shots, if that tells you anything. No one is going to go on a murderous rampage with a 22, unless they intend on slaughtering birds or maybe the neighbour's cats.

On my phone so I can't hotlink, but that pic shows the difference between a 22 and a 223 bullet.

It's an s3, so it's not old. It just happened to redirect me to the mobile version of gfy and I was too lazy to switch to the full site. The mobile version doesn't give you all the same posting options. Just my own laziness

A .22 is nothing to sneeze at. I'd gladly take one in a survival situation... but I've been shooting them since I was 5yrs old. Rimfire ammunition is cheap, easy to find, easy to carry, and pretty damn accurate up to about 300 yards.

But in case you have any doubts...

True dat.

Virginia Tech murderer used a Walther P22 and a Glock 9mm. I don't know if he killed any with his 22.

Brenda Ann Spencer shot at a bunch of kids at a school with a .22 rifle. She killed 2 and injured 8.

Salvatore Perrone killed 3 shopkeepers with his .22 rifle.

Ruger 10-22. I had one of those for years and its still my favorite gun of all time. I had the snap together 50 round transparent banana clips. When done with one, you just flip it upside down and go to town.
