    I have been using Verotel for over a year and I have not had any problems billing UK visitors. Never had any issues with payment, easy to set up an account with them (I was up and running within 48 hours), and they do not have any setup fees.

      Epoch are the best in my opinion. They cover more cards than anyone else and they also have an option for Ukash.

        I agree with that for UK and Europe. Much wider choice of payment methods accepted.

            Yup, Epoch are the way to go. And also, if you're actually based in the UK, you'll need to be ATVOD compliant too sooner or later. If you ask for it, Epoch can limit your card acceptance to CCs only, which ATVOD deem as an acceptable over-18's firewall.

              Hi rastan,

              I've briefly spoken to you about being atvod compliant in another thread but had a question for you. Did you seek advice from a solicitor on whether you need to comply with atvod or did you simply just decide you wanted to be compliant?

              Reason I ask is because I am wrestling with this myself and have gone over their guidelines and seen this:

              http://atvod.co.uk/uploads/files/Gui..._June_2012.pdf

              Under section 368A of the Act, a service will be an ?on-demand programme service?,
              and therefore subject to notification and regulation, if it meets all of following criteria.
              a) It includes TV-like programmes: the service includes programmes whose form
              and content are comparable to the form and content of programmes of a kind
              normally included in television programme services;
              b) It is a VOD service: the service enables users to select individual programmes
              from among the programmes included in the service, to receive the selected
              programme using an electronic communications network,
              1
              and to view the
              selected programme when the user chooses;
              c) There is editorial responsibility: the programmes comprising the service are
              under a person?s editorial responsibility; and
              d) It is made available to the public: the service is made available by that person
              for use by members of the public.
              So it is my understanding that one must meet not just one or two of the above criteria, but ALL of them.

              Did you find that you met all of the criteria and your sites fell under the guidelines that required you to comply?

              Regards
              Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

                Fuck ATVOD! Following their guidelines makes it near on impossible for any honest UK based adult webmaster to survive. Your best bet is to move editorial responsibility off shore or try and remain anonymous!
                They'd seemingly much rather do without the extra tax revenue such honest businesses bring in and allow youngsters to view free porn via tubes and and file sharing sites which will be unaffected by their stupid unreasonable regulations!!!

                  2 minute long videos are enough to satisfy their requirements as being "TV like" Expect to pony up if you have editorial decision making in the UK regardless of where you host etc. They will also do a good job of pursuing you through processors too who are obliged to divulge your ownership where required AFAIK

                    Hey fella,
                    well, in answer to your questions, no I didnt seek a solicitors advice - I'd love to spend time and try and argue the toss with ATVOD, but I don't have the time, $$$ or indeed will to fight on it when others in the same business have had to fall in line. My sites got caught almost in the second wave of their scouring of the internet, and some of the bigger players had already been forced to comply. Or rather, those who fell foul of all four of their criteria, did.

                    In answer to your second point as to whether I met all the criteria- yes Im afraid I did. The question about what qualifies as `video on demand` could be construed as a matter for conjecture. But again, if more established players than I have been forced to comply having similar website businesses, then I felt I might as well fall in line and see how it worked out.

                    Believe me, I explored options about moving our business overseas to get over this hurdle, but one-by-one the options closed down, or became unaffordable.

                    Its not an ideal situation, and it *HAS* negatively affected my business, thats for sure. *BUT* overall, We're slightly better off financially than we were at the same point as we were last year, we have a bigger stable of properties and a better platform to build on. I suppose to contrast that with the amount of programs that have closed THIS YEAR alone, we must be doing an awful lot right.

                    Those lovely people at ATVOD [for the guys from the US, that there was IRONY! ] shouldn't cause you too many headaches in your busines, IF you leave no stone unturned in your quest for cash. if it helps, look at it as a sort of corporation tax bill thats not related to profit, and hand over the cash.

                    Good luck bro!
