Attention Sponsors: Your RSS and XML feeds are not compatible!
Numerous sponsors don't even have RSS feeds and hosted FLVs. Then, there are some with RSS and XML feeds that don't even work. I could be the only one having this problem. Maybe I am just ignorant and can't get them to work correctly.
My main use for RSS feeds is Wordpress (IT'S FREE). There is an plugin called FeedWordPress that will allow you to use an RSS feed to automatically update your page with content whenever the source is updated. Amazing! My main use for XML feeds is NTS (IT'S FREE). Nubiles tube script has an option to autoupdate from XML feeds to automatically add content whenever the source is updated. Amazing! I'll pick a random sponsor that I'm trying to promote, although there are problems with many. Let's go with WTFBucks for example. Although their RSS and XML feeds will actually process, I've run into a couple problems. The RSS output doesn't integrate the content into the site/blog at all. I assume there is a way to reformat the content, but as default settings it looks like a list you see in the affiliate admin area. The XML import works fine until you try to view one of the videos on your tube site. The video won't play. If you directly to the flv in your browser you will see the video play... with it's own embedded player instead of trying to download a file. This could be the problem here. In conclusion, I would like to see more sponsor feeds compatible with the above two scripts... Wordpress and NTS. Thank you.

This is one reason I prefer to write my own blog posts rather then using sponsors rss feeds. I've tried using some of the morphing rss feeds and when you import them they just look like shit with how they are formatted and by the time you fix them all up you might as well just have created your own.

Thanks for info.
We are adding more hosted flvs to our promo tools in coming days. will make sure to create a autoupdating feed for wordpress and for NTS too. will bump this thread once done. until then you can always see sig and try our flv exporter or you can just try Exporting to Nubiles tube script format. thanks

Creating standard feeds that anyone can use is no easy feat.
As an affiliate, I would suggest you get CyberSEO and then custom integrate the feeds into wordpress however you want. That should fix 99.9% of your problems. You won't need to rely on your sponsor giving your properly formatted feeds for your site anymore.

Very true. See XML feed specs for tube scripts.

While there are some XML standards; they have to do with syntax and node structure. RSS feeds are all over the place. |
