My dad in 1965... doesn't he look great? :thumbsup

I'd be curious to hear if anyone recognizes the pic.

Brad

im pretty much sure I have seen this picture in one of the local bodybuilding magazines i bought as a kid when they were republished. Is he really your dad? I admire the older bodybuilders from Steve Reeves up to Frank Zane.

ya know, that head of stephen takacs would scare a poodle half to death. Surely no self respecting gay scat fiend would even fuck this guy in a dark public toilet :thumbsup

Yep that's my dad! Wrote a course on bodybuilding when he was a barber in like 1963 or something like that... You've seen that photo if you read any comic books in the 70s or magazines in the 70s or 80s. If you want to see something nostalgic, check out the tribute site one of my brothers put up: http://www.universalbodybuilding.com

Quite proud of dad! He sold as many or more courses as Charles Atlas for all the years he was in business. He was quite the entrepreneur, in the 70s every Marvel and DC comic book had anywhere from 1-5 ads of his in it. Bodybuilding, Kung-Fu, Cartooning for Money, How and Where to Pick Up Beautiful Girls and lastly 2000 Ways to Make Money.

Cheers,

Brad

No, the scrawny punk in that comic went and pushed weights for few days, bulked up to Lou Ferrigno size, then went back to that beach and kicked that guy's ass. This guy decided to skip all the hard exercise and go straight into competition.

Go home and build some muscles, lightweight.

There are a few bodybuilders who could pass for powerlifters. Dorian Yates of the mid-90's comes to mind. Not many though.

Nice site! I'm sure if i print the picture more than few friends at the age of 40-50 (im only 24 btw) will recognize it as well. In my country, Greece, bodybuilding was introduced in a more professional way by Nick Zapatina in the middle 60s. Back then everything related to bodybuilding was in general very limited. All these guys including my father started bodybuilding after reading one of the few commercials like the one of your father's or after seen a hercules movie or even a picture.

At that times you had to pass a lot of situations to get in a good shape. Athletes didn't have proper knowledge, nutrition was pure and everything was up to your own effort. You were the one making the difference. That's why I admire escorpio the bodybuilders of the past decades. Their dedication was remarkable. :thumbsup

Now bodybuilding is a pure science and if you have money and will, everything is possible....but again...I've been inside a small gym from the of 14-15. 10000s young men came, joined the gym for a month or a bit more and quited. After ten years I can see pretty much the same guys with few exceptions. That's the rule.

Thanks a lot sinempire for sharing this pic and tell your father when you have a chance that he rules :thumbsup
