Premeditated murder is rare. Crimes of opportunity are common. People do things when they are high/drunk/mad that they would not normally do. So easy access to guns is proven to cause more deaths.

From a Canadian (I say that word very loosely because I'm ashamed at being one) who now lives in the US and a US citizen, I will gladly take the random violence in the US than to live in that rathole of a country Canada again. Seriously, the country is a joke from top to bottom.

They are supposed to blend with the desert, not stand out Then when the US forces made fun of them and told them to take their forces far far away from the US contingent, the Canadian forces went to the army store and dyed their gear with that sandy colors, until the canadian gov't could order new desert military gear. And when those new gear arrived, after a few weeks of usage, it started to fade

Their military equipment is so old and outdated, they were rated worst than some eastern bloc countries.

When politicians in the US are exposed to wrong doings, they usually try to deny/cover up it, and then if they can't, they usually resign. In Canada, when crooked politicians are exposed, they don't get fired/resigned, the response is almost "so what" and they keep their jobs.

The people are just so incompetent for a lack of a better word. It's like their goal in life is to be so incompetent. Their favorite term is "I have no idea". Their health care system is a joke. You wait in the ER when you are in the hospital for 5-6 hours before receiving medical attention. Their doctors favorite medication to prescribe? Tylenol 3. It doesn't matter what's wrong with you, that's their favorite medication to give a sick person. Comes back to the whole incompetent thing.

They like to brag that they are better than the Americans and more liked. No it's because the rest of the world is getting a kick out of laughing at the Canadians, it's not liking you, they feel sorry for you

Bottom line is that besides the French in Quebec which I feel sorry for being stuck in Canada (and it's no wonder they want to separate), the rest of Canada is a place you want to stay far far away from unless you are a terrorist. Canada is the #1 safe haven for terrorists of all types. Middle east terrorists, somolian pirates, asian gangsters, etc...they all run to Canada.

Ever since I moved to the US and got my citizenship, I couldn't have been happier. Now I go back to Canada to look into my real estate affairs, and to visit family and I get the hell out the first chance I get. Good riddance How's that for a "Canadian's" take?

In all honesty now, where would Canada be without US as its main trading partner ? Just like China, Canada basically relies on the US to buy all their stuff. Take Canada away and the US would be just fine. Take the US away and Canada would turn third world in a decade.

Also don't forget that Canada can 'afford' their healthcare and other socialist crap because they don't have to pay for their own security. The big boys with guns down south make sure the Russians aren't simply taking the far north.

Finally, the guns debate in the US is not strictly about guns but rather about the ability of an individual to NOT rely on his government for anything, including his own protection. This independent attitude, this risk-taking mentality is what made and still makes the US the #1 country in the world. Being the only superpower isn't an accident.

Well Canada is the number one country that the US exports to in the amount of 280 billion per year. So it might cause some effect if that were to stop. Last time i checked the US isn't actively protecting the far north, canada is and while yes canada and a number of countries rely on the US for backup if shit hits the fan its because we're allies. there are certain people that just shouldn't have access to guns, plain and simple. it doesn't mean no one should have access to them. you can buy guns at canadian tire in canada but not assault rifles.
