It was nothing like this though.

Remember the first on is meant to be landing - I would have shat myself....

I have had some pretty scary flights - but thankfully never an aborted landing.

It's a technique that you train for. Crabbing. It's how you deal with crosswinds.

Scary yes. I've had a couple of landings over the years where I polished the wingtips a bit.

I remember a scary landing at Lima, Peru -- or it may have been Santiago, Chile(long time ago) -- but the plane felt like it was going to rip apart. Hot stewardesses on that LAN airline.

I was thinking about doing a few hours on a real flight simulator - They have it on Groupon at the moment - They do a view of what it would have looked like from the outside for you to take home - I am guessing there will be a lot of blood and guts.

I don't think I have but I know the story.

Doubt it would be so realistic that you'd have to eat bits of the simulator instructor before they let you go home.
