My first ride was a '74 Super Beetle. From the day I bought it, it smelled like gasoline and exhaust whenever I would open up the heater vents. Just figured that's how they were. A few months after owning the car, on my way to school... I saw smoke trailing behind me in the rear view mirror. Figured, huh... odd. A few seconds later, I lose all power. So I pull over, and when I look back again I see flames filling my whole rear view. LOL
Anyway, I was right across the street from a State Farm office... and one of the agents came out and extinguished my fire. The damage cost about $1000. The car cost $1000. One of my first lessons in the costs of car ownership.

I had an old 69 chevelle but since I was making to much money for a kid by playing pool I kept sinking more and more money into it and constantly made it go faster and faster. What were my parents thinking about letting me drive around in a 600 HP car I had built by a guy named Keith Black.Comment

1960 Coupé de Ville 2 door hard top Cadillac that I bought in 1972 in my junior year in high school. I had worked all summer and saved my money. Bought that car for $350 off the original owner -- mine looked like this picture 95% but had a black top.

It was awesome and terrible at the same time. MGs are known for bad electrical systems, and mine was no different - but driving it on sunny days was great! On rainy days, it leaked a tad and never got really warm with only a soft-top on.
But I'll get another one one day - they are sweet cars albeit all the trouble they come with... :-)Around since 1997, and the company that introduced "Cascading Billing" in MPA3® Affiliate Management and Tracking Software

Do you still have the JEEP, the PICK-UP and the Coupé Blanco? Or you sold all of them?...

The second car I owned after the crapp Wartburg was an Opel Vectra B like this but with nice black rims/wheels:

Which was stolen why I was in The Netherlands on ERASMUS scholarship for half year, but my love towards that car was [and is] so big that when it was time to own another car than I bought the same Vectra B however a way younger one and it is still my family car.

I'll take this opportunity to date myself.
I had a 1986 Chevy Chevette. It was an awesome first car. Was only 3 yrs old and had only 33k miles on it when I got it. This thing was a tank. Great on gas. I put a lot of miles on it and it never let me down!

I have always been a Jeep person. This was my first 1990 Jeep when I turned 16. I have had 5 others ones since then and have a 2012 Jeep SRT8 now. They have just gotten better with time.

I got a 1980 vw rabbit for my 13th birthday. We have a cottage and it's all private roads, so no need for a license. I drove it for a few weeks, until I ate too many cookies one day and pulled over to the side of the road with a stomache ache. Dirty road, my front tire slipped off the edge, and being front wheel drive I couldn't move.. So I walked a long ass way, got my friends to bring their pickup and pulled me out. I drove back to the cottage, and when I got there my dad was running at me screaming something.. It was "turn off the carrrrr!!!!"
I'd busted the gas line and it was spewing a light mist of gas out the side of the car...
We patched up the gas line, but it started leaking soonafter, and didn't have $100 as a 13 year old to fix it. And that was the end of the car.

My first real car, a '99 Mazda Millenia S

Laugh all you want! That car is a skiff bodied Model T speedster. It was builit with a Frontenac head and two carbs. Also fitted was a Ruxtel 2-speed rear axle, giving it a top end of around 75 MPH, not bad for a Tin Lizzie. A skiff body is a body made up of a multitude of wooden strips riveted, yes, riveted with long brass rivets to a body frame made of white oak or ash. The rivets are each then hand-peened into place and the wood exterior finished with marine varnish. You can see the rivets at each end of the wood strips. The highly modified engine would have made maybe 50-60 HP, which in a body and chassis that weighed about as much as your left shoe made for a real screamer.
Put that old fucker on a half-mile dirt track against the modern car of your choice and I'll tell you who will win and it won't be the modern car!
LOL!
With those tall skinny tires you could keep that buggy in a drift most of the time and really scoot through the turns! As long as you didn't turn it over it would have been hard to catch.
I think Paul would look good in it and be fucking proud to drive it!
I know I would!
