    All Government ARE STUPID!

Who has hardest time affording taxes?

    Poor people and small business...

What is the issue? Poor people just need every dollar they can get, small business spend lots of time, effort and money on records, tax accountants finding exemptions etc.

What about rich people? They spend lots on pro tax accountants, obviously worth it to them.

So wouldn't it be win win win IF:

Poor people paid NO taxes, small business paid maybe the same taxes but it was SIMPLE so they didn't need a tax accountant and ultra record keeping time/money wasters. Rich people got same tax breaks but didn't need to hire their pro tax accountant? What about middle class? They would get same breaks as if they did have a pro tax accountant but without needing to hire one.

    HOW WOULD THIS HAPPEN?

Well it would be a three step flat tax with ALL exemptions removed.

Lowest 10% of income earners would pay 0% taxes, 80% in the middle would be average taxes, and top 10% would pay slightly higher taxes.

This would work and allow govt to collect same amount of taxes while overall helping low income earners and business.

All peoples tax would be computed like this: INCOME or PROFIT (business) X RATE = TAX

    NO EXEMPTIONS

of course a flat tax makes the most sense, or a national sales tax - not happening because a flat tax would mean the rich paying more taxes than they currently do.

flat tax and/or national sales tax + health care reform
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!

Somebody needs to be educated on how the system works. I'm not pointing fingers but...

That would be ideal, but the rich/businesses would simply move to a country that charges them less taxes.

Also, the people in power and particularly the person with the most power should not WANT the job. Ideally they would have no desire for power or ambition, and only be concerned with running the country the best way for their citizens. Unfortunately, like prison warden or border guard, the job of President attracts those who are power-hungry.

Controlled spending would be the smartest idea starting with a pay cut to those in government that don't deserve or work for what they get.

Well ideally but I think we need to pay for the deficit first before we start talking removal or high decreases of taxes in general. We can just 'leave' a huge debt.

                This actually doesn't increase taxes.

All money spent on extra book keeping and tax accountants would be turned into real dollars in everyones pockets, some of which would go towards taxes, some of which would stay in our pockets. Everyone would be better off except tax accountants and other people working in the complex tax industry IRS workers etc. these types of fields would decrease very rapidly to a very minimal level.

Example, if you e-file, or hire someone etc you are paying money. Now you wouldn't need to do this, and would not pay that money. So now you have extra money. So if you were told that the extra money you have, half is yours and half goes towards tax, you are better off and govt still gets more money. Win/Win

As hot as I think you are? Dumb answer, and I know you are far from that. Think about it.

That would work if poor & middle class people ran the world. Instead, it's the uber rich and they don't give a shit about anyone else but themselves.

Don't tell me any of you would do anything differently if you were pulling in several million a year in (earned) income. Why would you want to pay more if someone else can?

IMO comes down to gov't spending. Spend less, need less...

No, I didn't mean that businesses leaving town somehow increased taxes. I mean that if they don't stay, that decreases the local economy. Fewer jobs available == lower wages == reduced standards of living also == lower property tax revenue and income tax revenues.

I enjoy my subsidized health care. I like the fact that schools have helpers for autistic kids. I like that there are public parks and fire trucks and libraries. So I don't mind taxes when they are spent on societal improvements.
