Auctions.Godaddy.com is it a Scam?

    Auctions.Godaddy.com is it a Scam?

    I got contacted by a client of ours today asking why one of our domains were listed at auctions.godaddy.com

    I assured him that domain were not for sale but he was right the listing were there, we have owned the domain for a number of years and will absolutely not sell it.

    Call 1 to Godaddy:
    I asked them to remove the listing he said he could not see the listing and the domain were registered through Internic so I had to contact them and a little back and forth I asked for a supervisor.
    He told me nothing he could do I had to wait for the Auction team to get into the office.

    Call 2
    About the same.

    Call 3
    Now I got the Auction support team.
    The CS could not see the listing and asked me to email a screen shot to them. I did and she looked into it with their tech team.
    She said they would remove the listing, which they have done.
    I asked how it could end up on their site for sale and she said it had probably been for sale in the past. Which is correct but this is 3+ years ago.
    I asked how we could prevent it in the future and were told there is no way to prevent it from happening again.


    So from this I gather
    1) auctions.godaddy.com list domains not for sale which is deceptive since customers have to sign up and pay a fee to bid.

    2) any domain can end up there? Which can impact business for companies if their clients can see the domain name business is for sale

    This is BS I started 7 hours ago and spend almost 1 hour on the phone to have this solved.

      that sounds very scammy and irresponsible

          same could be said for almost any auction platform. sedo has tons of domains listed that are no longer owned by the person who listed the domain. same for afternic.
          you don't know you're wearing a leash if you sit by the peg all day..

                  Imagine if a company have their domain listed for sale and someone see it, post i on forums and so on and the company is not aware it can hurt a lot in lost business.

                  The auction sites defraud their customers knowingly listing domains that are not for sale to get bidders to pay a fee and they could be liable for any loss to a listed company.

                      Saw such domains listed for sale many times,including my own but dont care.Anyone with common sense will realize how that listing is wrong.
