Normally I go over to my brother's place for Thanksgiving. He has his kids, wife and her family. My mom comes and we do the big get together. This year things are different. My brother is separated from his wife, but they are still going to do the family thing and my mom is now living in an assisted living center. I really don't like my brother's mother in law or his sister in law so I dread going to these things and have been looking for a way out.
Today my girlfriend sprung a surprise on me. The place my mom lives in is having their dinner at noon. We are going over and eating with her and hanging out for a couple of hours. Most of the GF's family is away on a vacation so she has no family obligations. She rented a cabin up on the mountain with a hot tub and a big fireplace in it. After seeing my mom we are heading to the mountain for a couple of days of fun in the snow, hot tub and in front of the fire.
Now I just have to hustle and get all my work done tonight.
