I'm curious as to know which is more reviled by the Producer community? |

 | I'd have thought Usenet would have more pirated content than the lockers and torrents combined. 10 TB a day is uploaded there. |

 Not a supporter of either
I just had a couple of my movies torrentted, as I'm just starting off this worries me as I fear I won't make a profit enough to cover costs. Should I bother even trying to get them removed? Or is it not worth the effort? Does anyone have experience with this? |

 | Both are a pain in the butt. Personally, I think file lockers are the worst because they are paying people for providing the content/links/downloads and this attracts countless dicks from developing countries who can make a decent living on the shitty pay most of them are making. A few are cleaning house, but they are in the minority. They have provided a way for people to make money, thus the huge problem we now have with all of them uploading day and night for $10 a week. I don't bother fighting torrents just as I don't bother with usenet. There are some battles that are just not worth the time, and to be honest, those types of users are not buying much of anything these days anyway. I will DMCA google if I find they are out ranking me on my site name, but that's about it. I fight where I can gain ground and make a difference and pass on the places I can't. I believe he is a content producer for one of the new sites that just went live, as well as being around the biz for a very long time. |

 | I like them both, but I prefer torrents as file lockers take too long to download because I don't pay for shit. |

 | The file locker eco system and torrents are relatively equal threats, however file lockers are incentivised more and the eco system supporting them is larger. Both are bad, private torrent trackers need to be shut down as much as forums, file lockers etc. Commercial piracy in all it's forms needs to be shut down. |

I agree... I would say that file lockers are worse since a noob can download anything... Torrents require a bit more knowledge to use...

We have evidence of news providers encouraging users to upload infringing content, you'll read more about this in the new year. We have already taken mitigation action against at least one USENET provider who was not complying with DMCA notices. News-Service Europe saw what happened when they ignored BREIN.

 | There are two different problems, its not one: 1. People downloading your product for free. 2. People making money off of your product. |

 | Porn torrents really only appeal to a pretty hardcore demographic. Your average Joe Schmo porn surfer doesn't want to join some private tracker and deal with all the politics, ratios, and other crap just to get his fap on. Yeah, there are public porn trackers but they are awful...just awful. That same guy though will join a file locker. |

 | DWB said, I believe he is a content producer for one of the new sites that just went live, as well as being around the biz for a very long time.[/QUOTE] Well Said DWB, well said. Yes, I'm a producer. It's good to see people weighing in on this. I remember a podcast, radio show, where the guy that owns "x-art" was quoted as saying that he use to go after people torrentting his content, but then stopped as they tended to be his most avid fan base. At least I think that's what he was quoted as saying because the guy doing the quoting,"Adam Curry of MTV 80's fame" was cut off by the co-host, in the morning;-) |

These providers will also lose credit card facilities where it can be proven that they have failed to delete infringing content hosted on their servers.
