earlier Wach almost got Klitschko but he got away. and in the 8th round Klitschko almost knocked Wach out but the guy can take quite a bit

now its over - should be a clear victory for Klitschko - we won 11 out 12 rounds at least

I like and respect both Klitchcko's but they will always be known as dominant in a weak era. The fact that Vlad can't knock out chumps like this is sad. The guy is a statue who doesn't throw punches and still the champ is dancing around backing up in the final rounds.

You can say the same thing about Mike Tyson, if you look over his record who did he beat? People always point to Michael Spinks as his crowning victory but Spinks was a blown up cruiserweight that wanted no part of Tyson and couldn't wait to get out of the ring. Tyson made a career of mowing down past their prime ex champs but the heavyweight division was already starting it's decline when he was coming up so he did the best he could with the opponents that were available to him.

Mariusz Wach is a tough dude that took some ridiculous shots in that fight and going the distance is more a testament of his chin than Wladimir's punching power. Truth be told Wladimir could have easily fought more aggressively and had a lot more early round KO's in his career, but he is fighting exactly the way Emanuel Steward wanted him to fight, which has made him a champion and protected his one glaring weakness, a mediocre chin...

That right hand Wach caught Wladimir with at the end of the 5th round rocked him, but Wladimir did fight more aggressively than usual in this fight and left himself open a few times. The 8th round though was pretty brutal and I think you could have easily made a case for stopping the fight, since Wladimir was just blasting Wach and punishing him. Wach is a tough fucking dude.

The next few years will be interesting, as there are a lot of good, tall heavyweight prospects coming up that could be interesting challengers for either Klitschko brother, assuming that Vitali doesn't retire and go full-time into politics. Deontay Wilder is 6'7" and has ridiculous punching power, but he still needs to test himself some more before stepping up to a Klitschko. I also really like that 6'8" British heavyweight David Price, but he too needs to get some wins against quality opponents first. Seth Mitchell, Kubrat Pulev, Robert Helenius, Denis Boytsov, and a guy I really like, Tyson Fury, are all tall, tough heavyweights coming up that could make for interesting fights.

Sadly I think Vitali is going to fight a couple more times at most before calling it a career and becoming a politician, so most of these prospects won't be ready before then...

The problem there is they aren't American, and even if they were most of the US no longer cares about boxing. Even if an exciting American heavyweight like Tyson were to emerge in today's climate most American's wouldn't give a shit, and boxing has no one to blame but itself for years of corruption and piss poor matchmaking. Take a guy like Deontay Wilder, 6'7" and an Olympic Bronze Medalist, and 25-0 with 25 KO's. He's tall, American, charismatic, has a shit ton of power, and is KO'ing the same level of stiffs that Tyson was on his way up. But even a casual boxing fan couldn't pick him out of a lineup, because with the exception of Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquaio American's would much rather watch MMA than boxing. It's a severely declining sport in the US and I doubt that will ever change.

But you go to Germany and the Klitschko's sell out giant soccer stadiums. In England they are still mad for boxing and followed a mediocre boxer like Ricky Hatton around from country to country and made even his US fights seem like he was fighting a home fight in the UK. But here a few big names make money, and boxing still draws well among the older high roller fans in Vegas, and that's about it...
