When i'm browsing on my Iphone and i get directed to the mobile site 9 out of 10 times it annoys me and i will close it down. So it does the exact opposite of what's it supposed to do.
Do more people find mobile sites annoying?

I was browsing my local newspapers website the other day. They've recently launched a mobile website, the problem is that I have to create a free account to be able to browse it with my phone... I can visit the standard website without this account.

I think most sites have now made the desktop version accessible from the mobile version. This has been a great help in this situation as during the early phases of Smartphones so many simply didn't think about this. I do agree in some cases I would prefer to get access to the whole sites features and not just the slimmed down version. But in the majority of cases I like the slimmed down mobile versions of sites as its faster & easier to navigate etc... I feel the bigger issue is that bad mobile versions are being built that dont offer the functionality I used to get from the full desktop version.

I am the opposite, if I go to a website and it isn't mobile ready, I move on. I agree with Ashley in that they should have link to be able to access the web version but all sites should redirect to the mobile optimized version first, or at least a landing page to let the surfer choose.Comment

I usually prefer the desktop version but some mobile sites are set up nicely, its the best when they let you choose.Comment
