I know there are so many factors that determine what could make a gun great.. just wondering why the 1911 is so popular?

                                                                  Stopping power. .45 ACP is not an anemic round like the 9mm

                                                                  While most 1911's are actually 1911-A1's, I carried a straight 1911 (World War I vintage) for a number of years, but damn, that's a big, heavy sidearm to carry concealed.
