I spewed fire at Windows 8 when it was announced and after installing the Consumer Preview/beta. Ran it till RTM came out and installed it the day it came out. Recently I realized I went days, probably a week or more, without seeing the Metro/tile start/interface at all.
The OS would suffer form bad app design though, it's already evident many app designers are phoning it in completely and there are other apps that are pretty cool As for getting out of an app... Windows key on the keyboard to get out of apps or mouse in the top/bottom left corners |

Windows 7 is a fantastic operating system and works really well.
I tried the Beta of Windows 8 --- and I also had trouble with basic functions and getting around. What the fuck is wrong with you Microsoft? |
Fuckin Windows 8, iPhone 5, I'm just going to kill myself.
:Oh crap |

I think it works well on a tablet. Not so much on a desktop. |

I have been using it pretty much since the day the beta was released. Its good but the lack of a "START" button will confuse at first.
Just make shortcuts to your most missed start button applications and it works like a dream - I haven't tried to click the non-existent start button for months :). lol - I remember trying to turn the computer off in Win 8 for the first time - I had to Google it. I never ever see the Metro crap BTW..... |
I might try Windows 8, just want to know why i would try it. What does it do that Windows 7 can't? Give me a few reasons to install it.

It runs faster on low spec machines (for me anyway) than Win 7, just use the normal Desk Top. If you use Metro then its a different story, it is SO slow it hurts. Sorry about the random thoughts - Had a few beers :)! |

Use it if you know your way around Windows (or if you have never used Windows). Sounds strange but I know what I mean. |
The Metro interface is pretty irrelevant, the only time I see it is if I decide to start up the Netflix app.
Windows 8 is really good with multi core systems. We installed it on a 3930k machine, did a couple of tests with Sony Vegas and found it was maybe 20% faster than Win 7 running on the same box. Disk i/o seems a lot better and the way it handles and looks on high DPI displays is really nice. We just installed it to test it out and never went back to Win7. |
