Anybody else invested or following the VRNG vs GOOG trial?
I went in heavy on VRNG in the spring. Trial started this week. The stock has been on a real roller coaster. Anybody else invested in it? Or following the trial?

It's a fascinating story and trial.
This is the story that got VRNG really rolling. http://techcrunch.com/2012/03/31/why...be-going-to-0/ VRNG acquired Lykos' search patents and is now suing Google. Shortly after this story Mark Cuban bought 7% of VRNG. A few months ago they also bought 22mil worth of Nokia patents. Trial started this week. If VRNG wins the stock could soar. If they lose it goes to nothing. Fun ride so far. |

Daaaang I wanna buy in! 4.15 per share right now.. what price did you buy at Shap? Under $1??? If they lose the trial you said stock could go to zero... but if they win how high do you see it going potentially?

Sounds like it could also be another Rambus.
http://seekingalpha.com/article/1430...next-27-bagger Be careful. Heavy Mainstream News Coverage (ie, a bunch of casual investors ) + Market Cap of only $241M (that's below the generally percieved small cap threshold of $300M) = Hedge Fund Traders Dream This thing will be manipulated more than 18 year old slut in Chatsworth. If you decide that you're going to go long and that you're going to stay with it throughout the trial because you've done your due diligence and truly believe that they're going to win, stick with your conviction, wait it out and take everything you read on the boards with a grain of salt because the bashers and pumpers will be out in full force. Swarming. I'd also suggest buying a put contract for every few hundred or so shares to hedge yourself. They can also be kind of fun to trade on news if you're into that type of thing. It does look like that's where the money is going. https://www.google.com/finance/optio...DAD6jg0gHE aQ I have some experience trading stocks with similar catalyst based type movement, so shoot me an email if you have any questions about anything. Sounds like it will be a fun ride!

Surprised you're interested in a law suit driven stock. What's your sell stop?

I sold the day the verdict came out. I made some money on it. I sold because it was obvious once the verdict came out that the risk of VRNG dropping was far greater than the risk of them shooting up. So I took my profit and walked away. It's still in the judges hands and I don't know why he still has yet to address it. At one time it had a potential to be an 8 to $10 stock or more but now I think it could go up to 5 or 6 but not much more than that (based on current result). |

I got in low $3. So when it dropped after verdict and came down to mid threes that was the sign it was time to take profit and get out. Sorry I didn't get back sooner on this. Probably for the better.

I agree. The only difference with VRNG than let's say an Acacia is that one of the main players at VRNG was the CTO of Lycos and the man responsible for the patents and formula that made Lycos. It seems he did not have a chance to get his hands back on his patents until now. You can't fault a guy for forward thinking, patenting his method and then wanting to get paid for what he helped build.
That said this was a chance for the judge and jury to set a precident and put an end to the foolishness that tech companies are doing right now. Apple suing Samsung etc. The patent system definitely needs to be brought up to date with the times. |
