Bookit.Com seems to have the best prices, but there is some shady reviews. Any suggestions?

I don't take many vacations, but I travel a fair amount, and I usually book with a good old-fashioned travel agent, whom I've been with for years. She knows my travel habits, and has been to most of the places where I travel to, so she can almost always provide me with insider tips, and gets me some incredible deals.

I check the online deals, mostly to get an idea about what is out there...an honest live agent can often get you as good of deals, unless your sole objective is low price.

always wonder why some people here take as granted that everyone take an airplane at least once per month or some things like that...

its crazy that some people take here 10 airplanes per year or more... and practically live in hotels... while others with luck can take 1 in 5 years and have never ever seen a magnetic card to open the door of one of those massive hotels...

just sayin...

I'll usually search my flights on dohop.com and book on there or direct with airline... hotels I tend to book direct and usually email and ask for a better rate especially if I've been there before.

I typically go on holiday 2-3 times a year.

Full fledged vacation I go with a friend of mine that is an agent.

She books it all like it is her and her hubby going so I get the entire think for 1/2 off. Then I get the perks of freebies she would have received.

For resorts and the like, I usually book directly with the resort after researching around. I call the booking line, tell them I can get it for 'x' rcost at 'y' website and can they do any better. Never had any place that can't at least match the lower price.

For flights, I use Kayak.com or Expedia.com 90% of the time. The "this site is cheaper" method isn't as successful with airlines.

I always do it myself.

For airfare I usually start watching prices as early as possible and strike when I think they are best. For instance, I usually fly from Fort Lauderdale to Washington DC for an average of $70 each way on Jet Blue -- direct flights.

For hotels I usually go with Hotwire.com as their stars rating is pretty accurate and you won't find one of their four star hotels in a shitty neighborhood.

For cars I always book right on Enterprises site as they typically have the best deal but also sometimes the airlines have a car upsell that is cheaper so I get the Enterprise price direct first and then compare. If I'm also booking a hotel on Hotwire I will see what their rates are as well.

I think doing all of that is fun.

book directly witht he airline if possible. I learned from hard experience that the brokers like Expedia don't do much to help with missed connections or cancelled flights, but an airline will take care of you.
