And yet murderers can do their prison time (or probation or whatever they can plead it down to) and get out with no registration needed, and are free to live anywhere.

Yep. That's the basis of our laws.

Forcing people to "register" as criminals after they have paid their debt to society should be unconstitutional. But anytime that CHILDREN come into the discussion...all bets are off and the constitution gets thrown out the window because we tend to get emotional about it.

The govt. shouldn't have any power over people to force them to "register" as a "sex offender". If a crime is so bad that you don't feel it can ever be forgiven...then make it the death penalty and stop letting our freedoms be taken.

Im all for death penalty for child molestor and rapist. Sexual predator list is becoming a joke. It full of people who are not dangerous to society at all. Showing your dick or even jacking of in the middle of the mall should be punishable by law, but lets not crowd the list with those type of people. The list should be saved for when there is physical contact, or atleast someone who tried and failed. Defently not for someone like one of us just trying to make a scene.

Yep, and I've said this before in these discussions.

I was born in 1961. My dad was 20 when he impregnated his girlfriend (my mother). She was 15. I was born when she was 16 and he was 21.

They got married when she got pregnant. I have two younger brothers and they have families as well now.

But ALL of that would have been erased if it had happened in 2012. Instead of marrying my mom and building a life and family together...he would have been thrown in jail and would be a registered "sex offender". My two brothers would not exist...nor their children. And my life would have probably been a LOT different and much poorer (my mom would have probably ended up on welfare and God knows what would have happened to me)

The law is bullshit.

Imo if a 20yo frequent jr high or h/s to look for fresh meat for one night stand, then theres something wrong. But if a 20yo and 15 yo were dating then there should be nothing wrong with it. But ohh nooo its just not allowed. Its funny how that can ruin 3 peoples lives cause they decided it was love. But rob an 80yo man and end up killing him by accident the dude walks away with probation and a future employer cant even discriminate against that when considering for a job.
