Anyone taking codine and doxylamine long term

ive been taking
2 tables 3 times per day for 2 weeks

each tablet
500mg paracetamol
10.omg codine phosphate
5.1mg doxylamine succinate

the side affects are a bitch

I did six weeks a few months back on Percocets and Vicodins after surgery.

The bound me up for sure, but considering I had colo-rectal surgery, that wasn't such a bad thing.

Coming off of them wasn't any big deal either.

What are the side-effects you're getting? That's a really low dose of Codeine.

That's 3 grams of paracetamol each day, at around 4 grams/day most people start to experience liver issues. I'd stop right away. The amount of codeine isn't too bad (60mg/day) but you may have a few uncomfortable/slightly depressing days ahead.

Would be much better if you were taking codeine alone.. Not sure about the doxy but I doubt it's doing you any favors, prob just making you even more sleepy.

ive been taking them because they are the only pain killers that work but know i think there are more problems than gains

Might want to ask your doctor about all of that, definitely shouldn't be getting those side effects from codeine except for maybe the nausea if you're not used to painkillers.

Yep, you need to fix the root cause of your pain. These are only meant for very short-term solutions, otherwise they create new problems.

Can you see a doc?

If you stop the pills for a few days, and you still have headaches, you should see somebody.

Have you heard of rebound headaches? Not sure if thats what you have but I'm willing to bet some of your headaches are from it. You are more likely to suffer from them since you take it everyday. Please read up on them.

If it gets bad take aspirin or whatever it's called there. Just don't take more paracetemol.

Or slowly reduce your paracetmol intake until you stop. Either way you're going to suffer.

A cold rag on your head helps. Also opening your jaw wide a few times seems to help me. And nothing beats a dark room.

If the headaches continue after a while I'd see a doctor and get on a migraine medicine. There is some really good narcotic free ones.

I am allergic to something that is in codeine. The one time I had it I got hives. I had a nasty infection several months back and they gave me Oxycontin for the pain. I took a couple of tablets every day for about a month. I can see how someone could easily get hooked on them, but luckily I was able to stop taken them with ease. The side effect was that I was high as a mother fucker half the day every day.

My wife also suffers from Migraines so I feel your pain. I know how crippling they can be. Her biggest thing to stop them and severe headaches was a diet change. When she would get them she would analyze her diet over the last 24 hours, make a list. You will have to go through a few Migraines but you will start to see common foods OR ingredients in foods that trigger them. Her biggest triggers were MSG and sulfates in wine.

codeine is pretty much the weakest on the opiate scale. I take about 400mg of codeine after my brief 3 month run with oxycodone, it's just shite.

Your doctor will gladly kill you with meds as long as its in his guidebook/pharma promotion. Plus he gets to charge you for all the liver function tests (upsell).

I have a serious distrust of "general practicioners". The are like affiliates to undertakers.....

So what should i do if i take the naproxen its takes my headaches away but it gives me a pain in my side probably related to the high liver function

Well i think taking any medical advice from ME or ANY gfy'er is a bad idea.

Your best doctor..is YOU. Become an expert in your own condition. Use your doctor to suppliment your knowlage, but dont trust him/her blindly.

Its widely known that taking APAP's ect will just make you feel worse over time..They will make your headache worse!

And if your liver is already taking a spanking, you need to look at your diet. SOme foods, i think (grapfruit is the classic one..) keep your liver busy/blocked and then its suddenly faced with a backlog of other junk to process. Booze does this too.

I have to take 10 mgs of hydrocodone with 500 mgs of Tylenol 5 times a day plus 30 mgs of oxycotin 3 times a day. This will be like this for the rest of my life but bigger doses once these stop working
