Anyone ever buy an "opt-in" email list? - GoFuckYourself.com

I'm looking to contact people in a certain vertical and found a number of providers that sell a database of opt-in and double opt-in email lists. Some range from next to nothing to $.005 per.

BTW, this is for a mainstream marketing company, not pushing adult content to the public

Right now we have a sales rep calling these people to get their email and send them information. 33% open rate of 200 sent, so pretty good, however only about 100 emails can be collected per day.

I know buying the list will lower the quality of the email, but anyone have experience?

Yes, I know where you can buy them for mainstream. Including FB and segmented verticals.

It's not enough to purchase a list. They must be double opt-in to be CAN-SPAM compliant.

Additionally, you would want to do data verification on any purchased list.Which would eliminate the complete garbage. Ideally, you would want to have any lists broken out by demographics if they do not come that way. There are companies that do all of this stuff for you.... for a price of course.

The list I'm looking at is double opt-in and verified. They make some guarantee against anti-spam, but thats all here-say until the list is emailed to.

I looked at SalesGenie and most of the info is not accurate and they charge a shit load of money and looking at a sample of just the area my salesrep is calling, the info is pretty far off.

It's cheaper and maybe better to just have solo ads placed on opt-in mailers. Use these ads to build up your own malilng lists.

yeah good point, I never thought about doing that. just need to find a few good companies that do mailers on a regular basis or people that market to the vertical im going after and pay for ads there.
