                          Sadly, a friend of mine's mom had a wiener dog she did something similar to. Her dog wasn't that big, but she was big enough that her belly dragged on the ground and she had trouble getting around and doing anything.

                          To make a long story short my friend's dad died and his mom was left alone for the first time in 30 years. She got the dog and her main joy in life was spoiling it. She would cook it meals at night like it was a person. It didn't take long before the dog was grossly overweight. My buddy stepped in and told her she was loving the dog to death and she did change her behavior some. In the end the dog died at about 7 years old which is not very old for a dog like that.

                                      Obie is a 5 year old standard dachshund who is on a mission to lose about 40 pounds. His current weight is 77lbs.
