My old school all time favorite phone! The Motorola V60!! :thumbsup

Yes that's a analog screen!

analog
(of a device or system) in which the value of a data item (such as time) is represented by a continuously variable physical quantity that can be measured (such as the shadow of a sundial)

digital

adjective
1. of or pertaining to a digit or finger.
2. resembling a digit or finger.
3. manipulated with a finger or the fingertips: a digital switch.
4. displaying a readout in digital form: a digital speedometer.
5. having digits or digitlike parts.

That's not an analogue screen. It would have to be CRT to be analogue. The only analogue part of that phone is the speaker, microphone, the light and the way it communicated with the tower.

Mr Pheer 09-12-2012 08:42 PM

Pretty happy with my 4S and now I have some cool accessories for it that wont work with the 5, so I wont be upgrading anytime soon.

Bingo. The 4S is small/light enough. Has the market really responded to Apple over the last 2-3 years and "demanded" a smaller/lighter phone? I don't think it has, but I could be wrong. They should have leveraged the size/design to include NFC and beef up the battery.

I'll stick with my 4S for a while. It will feel like a new phone anyway once they release iOS 6. I'm looking forward to the new features. They really just played (barely) some catch-up with the hardware. Where they innovated was the OS.

I wouldn't really say it's a big disappointment since I just upgraded to the 4S in June; at least now I don't feel like I missed out on another revolutionary device. The 4S is still a very capable piece of technology.

flyfishing 09-12-2012 08:43 PM

meh its faster. i like the iphone cause of the apps.

Chosen 09-12-2012 09:17 PM

I never expected anything from Apple, so I never been disappointed(or excited) with their products...

Theo 09-12-2012 09:22 PM

Hows the battery on S3 compared to 4S?

ErectMedia 09-12-2012 09:27 PM

I'll stick with the 4S for a few months to wait for any bugs to be reported/fixed then I'll grab a 5 :thumbsup

TidalWave 09-12-2012 11:03 PM

The major thing keeping me from switching is that BMW / Mercedes / Porsche / Ferrari do not have any interface for music with a droid device......

I play all my music via my iPhone in my cars....

Otherwise, I do wanna get a Galaxy S3

Socks 09-12-2012 11:04 PM

I think apple is in a bit of a jam because their iphone/ios ecosystem is so large and affects so many people and companies that they can't "re-invent" a new phone. They have to keep upgrading. That's going to be a huge competitive disadvantage.

The SG3 is looking real good after today I think.

what about bluetooth?? or even just usb?

my droid synchs up perfectly with my vehicle in either way, streaming bluetooth, or better yet just plug into the usb and play through that, or download it all to the harddrive

and of course the bluetooth works perfectly with the phone

Next step is Samsung s3 here.

What about 4G ?
The difference in speed between 3G and 4g Ite is similar to going from dial up to adsl

I was going to go with the S3 but since it had no real keyboard I decided to get the iPhone 5 when it's out since iOS 6 will integrate 100% better into my iPad and MacBook.

MPGdevil 09-13-2012 12:16 AM

Now I think it is pretty obvious why Apple is so eager to ban all Samsung's phones and tablets. The iPhone 5 is barely better than the Galaxy S III if at all.

pgmorin 09-13-2012 01:17 AM

It's amazing what is taken for granted now.

.

Larger retina display could already have been a reality with the 4S, but Apple chose to stick with the 3.5" size till now.

Generally upgrades are expected in all new IT products you buy, whatever it is computers, phones or tv's. If people expect more from Apple it is Apple's own fault. They have (over)hyped their products from day one, so now it is expected they come up with something extraordinary.

The step from iPhone 4S -> iPhone 5 is really only spec upgrades.

Although I like the look of iPhone 5 better than iPhone 4S, the design is still the same.
OS.. again the same as iPhone 4S.
Camera.. improved, but it's what is expected with new generation phones. I doubt it is on the same level as Lumia 920 though.
New processor and memory is fine but again people expect these things.

So it leaves us with some minor app improvements.

Now what did Samsung add to Galaxy S III besides hardware upgrades?

Quote:

Smart Stay

With the innovative Smart Stay feature, GALAXY S III automatically recognises when you are looking at the phone, whether it is to read an e-book or browse the web. The front camera looks deep into your eyes and maintains a bright display for continued viewing pleasure.

S-Beam

Sharing your content with friends nearby should be easy, quick and even fun. S-Beam lets you bond instantly so you can transfer documents, contacts, pictures, music, videos, you name it. Just put the backs of two Galaxy S III phones together, connect, share and enjoy.

Pop up Play

Picture-in-picture technology lets you watch an HD video in another window while sending an email or text simultaneously. Drag it to where you want on the screen, and chat with your friends or surf the web. Don't miss any of the action.

Direct Call

Samsung GALAXY S III even knows when you want to talk. When you are messaging someone and decide to call them instead, simply lift the phone to your ear and Direct Call will dial their number for you. No more fumbling through call logs or contacts. Let GALAXY S III do the work.

Smart Alert

When you pick up your phone, wouldn't it be nice if it let you know what has been happening since you've been gone? The GALAXY S III knows you came back and gives you a brief vibrating nudge to inform you about missed calls and new messages.

Buddy Photo-share

It couldn't be easier to manage and share your photos. The phone recognises faces and links those for you, using your group profiles for guidance. Now you're one touch away from sharing with everyone instantly.

Social Tag

Now it's even easier to keep track of your friends and loved ones. Social Tag lets you link the faces in your photo album with their social media streams. Once it's set, all you have to do is look at their pictures and you'll see their current status appear.

So quite a lot of stuff. Plus a completly new phone design.
Not really just a copy of the iPhone as some claim it to be.

No you are not alone. I'd like to try a WP8 next, but if it is going to be the Lumia 920, Samsung Ativ S or I'll wait for something third is not decided. Interesting times ahead.

Wow some people are hard to please.... while the new iPhone 5 isn't a big improvement over the 4S, this phone does tons of stuff! Here's a short list without alot of noise:

- about 19% thinner and lighter.
- 4 Inch Retina display, 1136 x 640 resolution @ 326 pixels per inch, 16x9 Widescreen
- LTE and 802.11n WiFi 150 Mbps download.
- Faster CPU + Graphics
- Longer Battery life (8 Hours browsing, 8 hours talk, 10 hours video playback time)
- New Earpods (tho the old ones were decent)
- 3 Microphones (1 top, 1 back, 1 bottom) for "BeamForming" audio pickup.
- Gryoscope (!)
- iSite Panorama Camera that shoots 40% faster (Nice - My iPhone4 camera is slow)
- 1080p Video Camera with Face detection
- Take still photos while recording video (Though I think Samsung already has this)
- Facetime Video calls over WiFi or Cellular
- 3D Maps
- Siri ("Where's the closest ATM, Siri?")
- Airplay (play movies wirelessly on your tv)

etc etc...
It's not a big improvement over the iPhone 4, but still wow...

I have a very good smart phone (i-mate Jam) on Windows Mobile in 2005 - two years before the first iPhone was unveiled.

http://image.ffmobile.com/product/ph...18ec227b73.jpg

It also was "i" and had a touch screen with icons + 600MHz CPU (remember it was 2005!). Can I say that Apple has copied it to make their super-puper "first" smart phone on the planet? :pimp

Instead of making it 18% thinner they could do with 5-10% instead, add a bigger battery and since they switched to nano-SIMs made it a dual-SIM phone. That would have been something to get excited about.

Read some rumors about the Galaxy Note 2 coming to the (unfortunately) Chinese market only with dual-SIM. So far only rumors but would be really nice to see some high end phones with this option.

Is now to soon to start camping in front of my local Apple store?

I wasn't so disappointed with the 5, my gf has a 4s and was expecting me to buy her the new one, no need to now, its barely moved forward in my opinion, i'll be sticking with the samsung S3, which is the best phone i've ever owned.

I don't know. I'm due for an upgrade and I'm pretty pleased by the new specs.
