    My first lesson in the porn industry

    This is the 3rd day that I have officially (well, with a site that is) been in the porn industry. Before that I was just a web developer doing daily stuff for clients and using mediatemple for domains/hosting. Now, mediatemple is great - but not with porn, apparently. For now, my site is down and that's my first lesson - never, ever think you'll just experiment on a hosting that does not allow adult content, which is common sense, but I'm obviously lacking that.

    So, I searched around GFY and found amerinoc to be the best choice for me, now waiting for the bloody DNS to update itself so I could start moving whatever is left of my site. This thread is for all the idiots out there, just like me.

                      What's with these odd quasi testimonials for hosting lately? At least the 2nd one like this in the last couple days.

                      But yes, always have a host that accepts adult. There are MANY that do unless it's some extreme site that can't even be billed for.

                                                                                          5. You realize that you should be working with companies like Homegrown Video that will earnestly help you to not make the mistakes most people make when they get into the biz.

                                                                                          6. You get a cease and desist on a trademark on a domain name based on a word that you can't understand or agree should be able to be trademarked as a term.

                                                                                          There is an honorable mention given to anyone that braves coming out of the shadows where lurkers hide from scrutiny and actually posts on GFY and gets ridiculed mercilessly.

                                                                                                                                                      As far as the lesson I spoke of...it was one I learned myself with amerinoc when I tried them out for a small project. Nothing but problems, database crashes ect... For his sake, hopefully he won't experience the same. Maybe I was just on the same shitty server that so many others seem to have also been on.

                                                                                                                                                      For your lesson, that would be a question you would need to ask Duke, as I am not involved in any aspect of where we advertise at outside of our internal sites. However, and I may be wrong, but I believe Duke has answered this question before.
