I use my tablet every single day and find it extremely useful. I wouldn't go with anything that is using some specialized OS. Android all the way.

You can only get the content from Amazon if you are in the USA. If you are not in the USA go for the Nexus 7.

I have the Kindle fire and love it. I won't be upgrading to a tablet though. I use it almost exclusively to read books so I don't need the bigger screen to watch movies or use apps.

Much like the original Kindle Fire, this IS an Android tablet...just running an extra Amazon UI overtop.

Again, much like the original Kindle Fire, this will be running all sorts of versions of Android within 2 weeks of it's release.

That said, for $499...I'd buy an iPad and I've been a long running Android fan since version 1.

Pros: Apple

Cons: Won't sync with your iphone or imac or MBP

option 3:
Google Nexus Tablet

Pros: Cheaper

Cons: Only 16G, 7 inch, less battery life

Option 4:
Spending less time on any technological device and with family and friends instead.

I personally would not get any of them now. I find it's hard enough to stay offline these days that we often forget family and social life is important too.

I have a 10inch samsung... works great hardly use the damn thing

Get a Motorola refurbed Xoom 10" with wireless radio on eBay for less than $200. You'll have 32gb space, 1 GB ram and will be running vanilla ICS until they update it to JB. Like Nexus phone just bigger.
