I find it very hard to believe someone genuinely pulling in $95k/year (probably better than most here) would bother asking for $2k, so if it was all BS, and you're just flat broke, then anyone who who lends you the money is unlikely to see it again.

I'm sure you'd want to pay it back, but wanting to and being able to do so are two different things.

Selling family organs is a huge mistake Roald. They are the best possibility for a genetic match if you later need organs. Harvesting for storage is a much better bet long term. ;)

While he does indeed talk about himself and his earning power in some of those posts, they are more indicative of someone who is grounded and someone who maintains the positive outlook of an optimist (an endangered species on GFY) than they are of someone who is trying to gloat or brag or do anything like that. I agree, he seems like a good guy. This thread just seemed strange when I recalled him as someone who (credibly at the time) talked about how well he was doing. Also, before we elevate him to Sainthood, he hasn't been above taking shots at Paul Markham over the latter's relative success.
