The wife and I are due for a nice relaxing vacation so I don't plan on doing too much, but if anyone has any tips about things to see or do on the island please pass them my way.
enjoy... go snorkeling, enjoy the resort, beaches, ocean and restaurants...
lol. I imagine that Sam was hoping for something more specific but you gave me a nice standard, sarcastic response that I'll likely be giving to people for a very long time so thanks!
"Hey, I'm going to Island X Any suggestions?"
"Oh Yeah. Totally. You should definitely check out the beach. The ocean. Maybe eat some food at restaurants. Spend some time on your resort. You'll have a blast!"
We were there last August. Be sure to check out Maho Beach (I think that's the name), where the jets land right over your head. There's a bar right on the beach with the days flights written on a surfboard. Pretty cool when a 747 lands just feet over the beach...
The Reggae Cafe in Philipsburg is a must! (Dutch Side)
It's an island version of hard rock cafe but for Reggae of course.
Had a blast there and that whole area is a great tourist spot.
It's also the spot the cruise ship crashed into in Speed2
Yup, that's Maho Beach, right at the end of Princess Juliana Airport. I've always wanted to go there myself.
Was pretty cool... but not a beach to stay and relax at. Hardly any beach left (after a tropical storm, I believe) when we were there, and way too many people. But really cool when a big plane comes in.
i stayed at the princess heights condo (pretty amazing place just a little far from stuff)
rent a car is the most important tip so you can drive all over (beaches and restos)
the best beaches i visited were mullet bay beach, la petite plage (grand case)
and baie rouge, im sure there are other nice ones i didnt have enough time to see them all
some other ones were rough and ugly (simpson bay, dawn beach)
two awesome restaurants
steakhouse rare (in cupecoy)
italian la gondola (also in cupecoy)

That place is great. But be careful with the tequila - I was not, and vaguely remember getting back to the sailboat.

I've definitely seen youtube videos of this, including a chick getting blasted off of the fence into a curb. I won't get quite that close but it definitely looks cool.

Looks great. I will certainly check this area and bar out. Thanks!

We are actually staying near Simpson Bay ... but doesn't mean we have to spend our time on that beach. I was planning on renting a car or moped of some sort. I've rented mopeds on small islands before and it worked out great.
Thanks for the beach and restaurant suggestions also. I'll be sure to check them out.
