And you came to this conclusion how?

Perhaps if some people want to look as large as you then yes. Fyi most people don't. No disrespect btw.

None taken, I wasnt referring to looks, I was asking from a scientific standpoint how that is true. Just wanted a medical journal or study, something of the like...

Well if most of us ate that much we would be fat not muscle like you. 4000 calories a day is a lot if you don't work out as much you.

Choopa Phil 09-04-2012 12:44 PM

I know that Bryan lol...c'mon now...When someone says eating less to me thats like someone my size being 130-140lbs and eating like a bird. Asking what is "eating less" What defines it?

CashGina 09-04-2012 12:53 PM

Becon, salad, pasta. eggs, tomatoes, coffee, tea with milk

What's wrong with being 160lbs? I'm 5'8 and weight 170, ideally I'd like to get down to 160. The most lean I've been in my life is 160lbs.

Choopa Phil 09-04-2012 01:26 PM

There isnt anything wrong with it...im just barely breaking 175 now but holding 5-6% bodyfat steadily and im 5'7 so i dont know what youre getting at. This is why im asking how is eating less healthier especially if your body demands it. 140lbs of skinny fat vs 140lbs of muscle is alot different in both size and looks. I cant help it that my metabolism is blazing fast and i require what i do, if i "ate less" i would go back to 140-150 within 6 months.

Look, i don't want to sound like all the idiots who claim something crazy and then when asked for a source they say just Google it. But in this case...
I won't even discuss it, just like i won't discuss the colour of grass.
It's a well known fact for years already that the less you eat the longer you live. In general. So ofcourse if you have a heart disease, eating less, you are still more likely to die younger, no matter if you eat less or not.

Dirty F 09-04-2012 02:51 PM

Food and oxygen are some of the most important reasons why your body gets old.
The less you use the longer your body will last. Obviously the oxygen part is quite difficult to control :)

but you would live longer.

Lab tests on rats found that those that eat 40 percent fewer calories than their counterparts -- called caloric restriction in the field of longevity research -- tend to live longer, healthier lives.

Damn thats pretty crazy, I really do want to research this more. I feel like im restricted where im at now lol.

Phil, look up Intermittent Fasting as well. Research is showing that it can give the benefits of caloric restriction without .. Restricting calories. LeanGains is the IF protocol of choice for guys like us. See my blog for extended info.

Ill def look into it, just hard to mess with something that i know works for me right now...practically took me 5 years to get my diet nailed down to a T as far as what i know builds vs, makes me fat, vs helps me lose fat. The name of the game.

none of us have to look past that, because the problem with this study is you can't have a similar controlled state. Unless that you are able to teach a mouse how to push free weights...

All things aren't equal and this argument isn't sound.

I totally know where you're coming from. The only reason for the IF or CR (caloric restriction) is that it's shown significant life extension in mice .. who knows if it applies to humans? The biological markers are positive for the studies that have been done, though. I'm going to add a blog post specific to why it could extend life or be otherwise healthful, no bro-science.
