Something I learned a long time ago is that when people find out you work for yourself they immediately think you don't have a "real" job even though you likely put in more hours than they do.

I actually lost a friend for a few years because of this then several years later he started working for himself and realized just how hard it was.

People think you can just drop everything and do what they want anytime they want.

The friend I had a falling out with really pissed me off. He and his wife have three kids. Fast forward seven years and my buddy gets laid off from work. He gets a chance to freelance work for a company and does so while looking for another job. One thing led to another and he ends up just working for himself and suddenly he realized it isn't just stilling at home watching TV all day.
